Pop Room Recommendations

Is there a specific building/area of the resort that is better than others? I requested to be near the lobby (don't know what building) and away from vending machines...

But I was interested to hear any personal preferences you all might have. Also, does anyone know about the fridges they rent out? How big are they, etc?

Thanks in advance. I'm going in a little less than 2 weeks and I'm just trying to finalize everything. I want to get a good room in an ideal location!

I know if you get one of the "preferred rooms" they put you in one of the two buildings near the entrance near the pool. Its a little bit more, but if you have the extra money, that's the nice way to go. We stayed in those two years ago. They were great and different than the other rooms we've stayed in there. We have rented a fridge before. It was 10 bucks a night and it was a decent size. It was just one of the portible ones. It had a shelf in the middle so like two levels for things to be placed on. Forgot if there was a space in the door for things. We ended up barely using it.

The pool isn't important to me. In fact, I wonder if the pool will just be noisier?

I am going with my girlfriend. I want to be in a nice location, as quiet as possible. obvoiusly it's going to be noisy throughout, but I assume there are some areas that are more ideal than others.

This last year we were facing the bowling pin pool and yeah, there was some noise. We were on the top floor and all. The year before, (when we had the preferred room), it was on the side facing away from the pool and it wasn't as noisy. Being away from the pool might be a cool idea if you are looking for somewhere less noisy. Even toward the pool wasn't that bad. Only noticable if you were really listening for it.

In that case you might want to request a room facing the lake.

When you going to Pop Century lefty? I'll be there in a few weeks, too...

Good thing about PC is it's a value resort with a poolside bar/lounge... I'll have to buy you a cold one.

If this is what you want, request a room in the 50s building that overlooks the lake. Tramp was the giant icon of the building we stayed at there. We had a great lakeview (even if it did overlook the construction across the lake) but at night we had unobstructed views of both Wishes and Illuminations. It was a pleasant surprise. It was quiet, pretty, and peaceful, something I had assumed did not exist at value Resorts. We really were secluded on that backside, but had easy access to the main area and bus stop. We were building 3, 4th floor, room 27.

On the other hand, the buildings and hallways facing the pools were chaotic, noisy, and crowded, something I had fully expected of values.

As far as the noise goes, we have never had any problem with noise. I don't know about the pool area because we have stayed at the 50's and 70's and you couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Last April, we stayed in the 70's building on the far end of the building in front of the 2 big Potato Heads and it sure was nice. Quiet and tranquil is the best I can say. We would get up early and take a few steps down to the lake and feed the ducks everyday. It sure was awesome there.

Is the 50's building somewhat close to the lobby/entrance? I don't want to have to trek too far (or get lost!) in the morning on my way to the shuttles.

We just got back from pop century about a week ago and we had requested the 50's but didn't get it. Instead they put us in the 70's (Big Wheel) building on the back side facing the childrens playground and parking lot. We were really happy there. It was right next to the main building and all we had to do was walk out past the playground and to the parking lot and we were right there at the busses. It seems that the 50's and the 70's are on the sides of the main building and the 60's is the preferred section straight out the back of the main building so if you want to be close any of those would work. Also just to let you know even if you get stuck out in 80's or 90's it is a straight shot across the parking lot to the main building and busses. Have a great time!!!

Very close. We're talking no more than 5 minutes. It's directly adjacent to the main area. I'd assume some of the front facing rooms of the 50s are closer to the POP main area than some of the opposing facing rooms in the preferred 60s region.

And I'm telling you, the backside of the 50s building (Tramp) was peaceful and quiet and overlooked the lake and you could see the firework displays. Yet, you will see some "stalled construction." But everything is orderly.

The pool is not open past 11:00pm so it should not matter if you are near it. Also you are taking a trip to Disney where it is always fun and never quiet. Get used to the noise and have fun. Or stay home where you have control over the noise.

???? that made no sense... Disney can be both fun and quiet... relaxing and enjoyable... if you are looking for a quiet location then ask for the back of any building - there will always be less activity and therefore quiet - which frankly is a common request! :) We are taking our DD in May - she'll only be 8 months... so though we are in the preferred building we requested the backside of the building - she needs her sleep and we need our rest after dealing with a squirming munchkin all day!

I recommend staying in the 50's section. It's almost as close to the lobby as the preffered( 60's ) and the 50's has it's own pool as well.

I agree. I loved staying in the 50's facing the lake. It was quiet and the lake is really pretty.

Regarding the quiet...I have NEVER had an experience at Pop where I found excessive noise. And I am a very light sleeper. The only noise I ever heard was plumbing (ie. showers and toilets, and I also heard that at BWI concierge...it's just a fact of life in hotels).

If you get stuck with rude loud guests, tell the front desk and they will try to accomodate your needs. WDW can't help it if the people you wind up next to are obnoxious. I had an obnoxious family in the room above me once at AKL. Luckily they checked out 2 days after I arrived. I don't think it depends on the resort. Rude people check in everywhere. Also, last week at BWI (in the concierge...rudeness knows no boundaries...haha) there were some people down the hall from me having a loud, REALLY obnoxious party in their room at 10 pm. I felt so sorry for their neighbors. Luckily, I was far enough away that I couldn't hear them from my room.

WDW is usually pretty happy to accomodate you if you have problems. But really, I think most people are respectful of their neighbors, and you won't have a problem.

As for the rest of WDW being noisy, sure some parts are. But some night try sitting on the rocking chairs outside of the store by the Haunted Mansion. It's quiet and relaxing. Or walk around the WS early when it opens at Epcot. There are plenty of quiet escapes at WDW.

Good thing I'm not taking your advice.

We were in an 80s building near the Roger Rabbit. It was quiet even with the computer pool right there. To get to the shuttles was easy just cut through the path to the parking lot and we would be from our room to the shuttles within 4 mins.

Ok I just called to request a 50's room. I guess I need to call back 5 days before to make sure it's in the system.

Also, how difficult is it to get a king size?

The King-size beds are standard in the handicapped rooms. As for asking for either of the 50's buildings, you can ask, but it's only a request. Most likely, that request will not be honored. Your building assignment will not be made until you check-in.
