Pop goes the Mermaid

I would choose POP over AoA for many reasons. First would be better discounts. I always stay at Pop and have wandered around the new AoA. The food court might be nicer but I rarely eat at my resort since WDW has so many restaurants. I really do not like the hotel room buildings with interior halls. I prefer the more open rooms at Pop. I like the fresh air and sunshine when I exit my room. I have walked around the AoA a few times and have seen pictures of the rooms. I guess if I had young children I would stay at AoA. It seems it is beloved by all that stay there.
I agree that the food quality has slightly dropped at many locations with noticeable price increases from my visit last week so a hotel discount could be very important and helpful!

Quick question, I'm debating All Star vs. Pop. What do you think? I'm booked for Pop because of the large arcade and fewer bus stops, but is it worth the extra $$?

I know one big difference is that the busses pick up for all the of the All Stars resorts. So do they have more busses, yes but they also have way more people and way more stops than pop. I saw this firsthand when i stayed until the Epcot closed and felt bad for the enormous line for the All Stars resorts.

Yes. It's worth the little extra not to deal with the bus situation but I'd stay ay the ASMusic again. You're not going around Pop Warner time are you?

I don't know; I'm going January 3-11. When I booked, the guy didn't say anything about it.

I love POP but if I had the opportunity to stay at AOA I would!

....last year (August) when we went to POP it was a 'family' gathering type stay .....with my brother's family staying at AoA (their 1st WDW visit). When he checked in ...he told them that we were at POP ...and were going to be "their tour guide". He called me from AoA to say that they (AoA) were offering us a free upgrade to a family suite (Mermaid bldgs hadn't opened yet).

....I turned it down.

....first ...we were already checked in and unpacked ....and we had the best room location ever at POP ...60's building #4 ....next to last room closest to Petals bar and main hall ....on the ground floor.

....second ....I didn't like AoA at all. The interior halls were dark ...and amplified noise. I think they completely "cheaped-out" and really missed the mark on potential building exterior theming ...and, things like site landscaping. And ...the room decor` ....made me jittery it was so LOUDLY bright

....and then we found out that the WiFi was less than stellar in performance.

....so ...we just passed on the offered upgrade ...because we loved POP ...and didn't see any 'value' in a free upgrade if we didn't like the resort.

Just coming back from my trip I totally agree with u. We stayed at POP and went to check out AOA. I have to say that I was a little disappointed. The food court was just not rite to me and the food was horrible. Of course I could possibly hit it at a bad/busy time but from that experience I would rather stay at POP as well.
