I'm debating whether to stay at a preferred room at the Pop Century(which is where I've always stayed) or at the Little Mermaid rooms at AoA. I've heard the LM are a far walk to the busses and lobby  Nevertheless I would love to hear from you guys! Please and thank you :p

My sister and her family stayed in the Little Mermaid rooms in February. She said the walk to the main building was about 10 minutes, walking at a fairly leisurely pace.

The rooms are decorated in the bright colors and cartoonish features that children most appreciate, and still feel fresh and new (according to sis). They enjoyed their stay very much.

We prefer trying new places and can't imagine just going to the same place every time. Have now stayed at about half of all the WDW resorts and have not regretted any of them. For us, distance to bus or lobby is not relevant to choosing a resort. You will be doing a ton of walking during the trip anyway, what's a bit more at the resort? We liked POP just fine, but too many other choices to go back any time soon.

I would choose AoA hands down. the LM rooms arent too far from the main hall and busses. Maybe about 5-10 min depending on your pace. We stayed in a Cars suite in June and while exploring the resort we timed the walk from the last LM building to the food court and I think it took us about 6 mins.

I love AOA, especially the Cars Suites. We've stayed in Mermaid and Cars and will be staying Cars again in Nov.
It's not a really long walk from Mermaid if you walk up the center and not around the sidewalk, but if you're going when it's hot, it seems much farther. We were in Ariel the very last room by the stairway, which is as far away from the busses/lobby as possible. If you get in one of the units closest to Lion King, it will be a "little" closer.
If walking is no problem for you, Mermaid will be a good choice. We had our car, so I only had to walk the long walk twice. We would take the car and park closer to the bus stop as I have problems with my muscles and back.
The Cars units are much closer. Just walk up the middle, and it's not bad at all.
We stay in Cars to get two bathrooms. It's too expensive to get two mod rooms. When it's just three of us, we love to stay at PORS.

I stayed at AoA last year in one of the Lion King buildings and had fun. On the way to the dining hall/gift shop and when I was taking pictures, I saw the Little Mermaid buildings. Good luck on making the decision.

We stayed at AoA last year (also in a Lion King suite). The walk to and from the main building from the LK suites was 5 minutes. And I walk slowly. The LM rooms are at most 5 minutes away from the LK suites. So 10 minutes is a leisurely walk for sure. And it's an entertaining walk. In fact, you should go ahead and stroll all the way over to the Cars suites at some point. They have the best outdoor theme.

Also, AoA has a superior food court/pool.

The only reason I would choose Pop over AoA would be discounts. They never discount those LM rooms. So if I could get a discount over at Pop, I'd stay there. But price being roughly equal, AoA hands down.

Even if I stayed at Pop, I'd walk across the bridge and check out all of AoA. It's worth the steps.

I also like POP very much but next week we're trying AoA for a week staying at the Little Mermaid rooms which can't be much further away from the main building than the 80/90's at POP.

Thanks for confirming that, I did the 80/90's building once and have always upgraded since. I know that isn't an option at AoA so I going to make the best of it and smile. I'll remind myself of this very thing next week when I'm walking the walk. I'm looking forward to AoA very much:)

What room do you get when you go to Pop? I usually get the preferred which means I am really close to the lobby. Please let me know how your vacation goes and how you like the LM!! I hope you have tons of fun :)

OMG, I hadn't seen a POP map in a while and it made me remember my first trip to WDW 4th of July 2011 and we stayed in the 60's!!! We were on the second floor right by the stairs, it was so perfect! Laundry was right down the stairs, as was the pool and bar and we wee a short hike to the bus stop out front! I think we had a preferred room too.

I will do:)

I've stayed in every block at POP but last year we asked for a preferred room when we got there, they had us pencilled in for 80/90's again but my legs weren't willing.

We leave the UK Weds morning, it's a ten hour flight from Bristol airport into Stamford. I'll have my packing done by tomorrow and then its just countdown.

My daughter and I love POP so much we're hoping we won't regret trying AoA but I'm sure we'll love it.

(Fingers crossed sorta smiley).

If you love Pop, I have to think you will love AoA just as much. It's the same except for the theme. And the theme at AoA is more immersive. The pool and food court are nicer. It's a small improvement in every way I can think of.

Thanks lebeau:)

I'm sure I'll agree with you. The theming is extraordinary and the menu at the food court looks very good so we're looking forward to AoA very much. We're all done and dusted here, up at silly o'clock in the morning and we'll be on our way. I'll nip in here when we return and let you know what we thought of it.

Cheers, from a very rainy UK!

Jane, we arrived back yesterday.

I would go for POP if I were you AoA was okay but not better. If you're used to the preferred rooms you won't appreciate the extra walking. I timed the distance from the corner of the Little Mermaid to the corner of the Main Building at three and a half minutes and I'm a sixty year old so the pace was leisurely. From door to door it would be approx five minutes.

There is very little in the way of atmosphere at AoA and the food court is lacking in many ways. I warn you that the food court at POP has had menu changes and not for the better either. Menus have been badly down graded.

The quality of the build at AoA is essentially very cheap and not so cheerful in my view. The tiled floor at the reception area is a disgrace and needs replacing already.
