I love the All Star Resorts but from what I read about Pop Century alot of reviews say its not that good. Can people prove or disprove this for me. I want to stay here

That's interesting, because all reviews and reports that I've heard say Pop is the best Value Resort.

First of all, they have their own shuttle transportation, whereas the All-Stars usually 'share' the buses.

Pop seems to be closer to everything than the All-Stars (it's near MGM and Epcot, whereas the All-Stars are in Animal Kingdom, way out West).

I haven't been yet, but I'm going in about a week for a 3 night stay. I've done plenty of research. While I can't give you a personal opinion because I've never stayed there, my sources and research indicate that Pop Century is your best bet.

I dont know how to disprove it but i enjoyed my stay there. I guess most complaints would be how large of a resort it is. We stayed in the Big Wheel - 70s building which was nice and close to the parking lot and the dining hall.

We were only there to sleep so i didnt experience it much besides the comfy beds. They did get us 2 full size beds instead of 1 queen but i enjoyed my own bed for the first time in years ;)

We like the Pop much better than the All Stars. As others have pointed out, it has its own bus service and seems closer to everything but the AK. Also, while still a food court, the restaurant seems much nicer and it has a nice bar/lounge where you can relax. Also, the outside pool bar is much nicer than the small liltte window bar they have at the All Stars.

Where are these reviews that you are reading? Most people find Pop far superior. It has a better bus system, better scenery (Hour Glass Lake), it is newer (some of the All-Stars are looking pretty shabby), the TVs are bigger, it has a pool bar (unlike Sports and Music), and the location is much more centralized, and they have more creative food offerings at the food court, like Twinkie Tiramisu and tye-dyed cheesecake. I can't think of anything at Pop that is worse than the All-Stars. Any complaints people might have would more likely be in relation to other classes of resorts (moderates and deluxes).

As far as Value Resorts go, we've stayed at Pop Century and All-Star Music, and I think we all (family of three) prefer Pop Century. I think we can also say its a better option then staying offsite.

Now if you're trying to compare it to another Disney resort of moderate level or higher, well it might be more difficult to make the case for Pop Century. We stayed at Disney Port Orleans this past summer and it clearly was superior. However, it also cost more.

We're planning a December trip this year, and haven't settled on our lodging. But for various reasons, we are thinking that Pop Century is probably our best option.

Pop is nice - as mentioned close to other parks. I have stayed there once already and will be back again soon. When I was reading up on the value resorts I saw more disprov's for All Stars Sports (that is where we wanted to try). Lots of posts of that resort being too noisy with groups of teens.

:sohappy: Pop is a good value and seems to be very close to MGM. It did not seem to take more than a few minutes to get there. Also, we got a great room in the 50's building so we were very lucky to have a short walk to the buses and food court. The Room was very nice and really, we were only sleeping there so we would stay there again.
2 thumbs up:sohappy:

I think all 4 are about the same. I just prefer Pop because it's a little bit closer than the all stars to most of the parks.

It also costs less b/c the taxes are higher at the All-Stars...

Legendary Years has not opened yet, but the current "resort" is complete. Whenever they finish Legendary Years, it will function as a completely separate resort like the All-Stars do.

I have stayed at POP and All Star Movies and I have to say that everybody has got good points about POP but for me when I go to Disney I want to be surrounded by Disney and
All Star Movies makes you fell that way with all the large characters like Buzz and Woody. Also the Fantasia pool is nicer then POPs pools. One more point is McDonalds is down the street and its nice to hit the drive in before you get back to your room.:hurl:

Just a quick question...

I heard that the noise quality is better at the All Stars than at Pop Centruy...

For example:

In The Unofficial Guide for WDW it says that "many readers have complained that soundproofing between rooms is poor"

Going on to give an example of a woman who could hear her neighbor's wake up call in the next room...

Having stayed at the All Star Music resort before, I know I never encountered that kind of problem.

Anyone have an opinion on that?

The reviews im reading must be old. Has the resort fully opened last I checked only the classic years were open. Is the legendary open
No...the legendary years aren't open and from what I hear, they aren't planning to be open for a while. (Meaning they were put on hold indefinitely). If you look at my photo album, there is a picture there of the bridge, but you can also see on the right hand side, the shells of the other hotel. (I would post the pic, but I can't do it on these boards.)

I have some experience with that too...when I stayed at Pop in May, I stayed in the 90s building...when we stayed there, I could hear people in the next room through the walls and I could also hear people yelling from the hallway. However, when I stayed there in January, (during the Marathon weekend) I stayed in the 70s building and I didn't hear a thing. (Granted, I was on the back side of the 70s building...that probably had something to do with it.)

My opinion would be that a lot of people like to complain. I have never had a problem with noise at Pop. If you are really trying to hear your neighbors, you can in most buildings. The walls in my dorm are concrete and I can DEFINITELY hear my neighbors if I try to. I doubt there is an appreciable difference in wall thickness b/t Pop and the All-Stars, however.

It's all about opinions. I loved both Pop and Music, as an adult. I'm thinking that kids would like AS better for the themes. But the buses and food court were better at Pop, I thought. but I did like the pool better at Music. The rooms were just about the same.

Any other hints/ideas about the Pop?

Stayed in movies, music and pop, movies is my favorite of the value resorts. I know the bus system is better at pop, but you can't beat the theming in movies. It is definetly more disneyfyed!!!! Pop is ok, but we made the "mistake" of staying AKL a few years ago, and haven't stayed anywhere since.
