October 17 2001: Opening Delayed
News is surfacing that Disney have taken the decision to indefinitely postpone the opening of the Pop Century Resort, which was planned to open early 2002.
that is all i can find that is some what recent i must be looking in the wrong place please help thanks i guess im just wondering why disney would put somthing like this on hold when it could just better them in the long run...

Disney found theirselves a little over-exposed to economic conditions after sept 11, 2001. Specifically they were and still are (to an extent) having problems filling hotel rooms. Thats why there are fairly substanial discounts for Disney resorts. It doesnt make a lot of sense to open a couple thousand more rooms at a value resort when you can stay in a moderate resort for less than the non-discounted value price.
