Pop Century Question

I am sure this has been asked before, so bear with me. We will be at the Pop Century starting March 30 for 4 nights. We reserved a "Peferred" room. Should we have asked for a specific area? What has your experience been at the Pop. We are looking for quiet, first and convenience a close second.(DH has some mobility issues and all the walking at WDW really wears him out)

TIA

We recently stayed in the 70's building (Rooms 0101-0472) I thought it was really quiet AND convenient. especially if you want to get to the busses w/o going through classic hall. Our room was on the 4th floor. So we did have to use the elevator all the time. Just ask for a room on the 1st floor. and I think you'll be good.

If you get a room by the main pool Bldg 4 or 5 you could have some noise issues unless your room faces away from the pool. They have elevators in all the buildings so you don't have to worry about using the stairs. The bus stop is right outside the entrance for the food court and gift shop. Hope this helps.

generally a PREFERRED room at the Pop will get you in at either the 50's or the 60's. did you make your reservation through Disney or a travel agent? if through Disney i would call reservations back and have them put on a notice that you are requesting a first floor room and i would also ask to have it in the 50's group of buildings. they will tell you that they cannot GUARANTEE your request but they will put it in the comments and i have never had a disappointment in not getting what i had requested.

then like the DAY BEFORE you arrive i would call to the POP front desk and give them your reservation number and tell the front desk about your request and they will help you... again i have found the POP front desk people really helpful in this regard.

given the time you are going noise factor should not be too much of a problem having the 1st floor, now if it was the summer or easter week or etc. then that might be a different story... but with all of that said i think you will find the quite factor and closeness of the 50's to your liking.

I stumbled upon this site a while back.

http://willcad.org/disney_maps.shtml

It has a map of Pop marked with the locations of the Preferred rooms, which are in buildings 1,3,4,5,6 and 10.

A little over 25% of all rooms are preferred. I was surprised to find that only 2/3 of the rooms in the 60's buildings are preferred. And those that aren't preferred look out at the lake.

As for my group's non-preferred rooms in September, we're asking/hoping for building 10, 6 or 9 in that order.

My friend and I stayed at Pop in a Preferred Room on our trip on Oct and we were in the 70s area, building 10. We had a ground floor room that looked out onto the 90's parking lot. Our room was really quiet and we were really close to the bus bays and to Classic Hall. If I was going to stay at Pop again, this is the area I would want to be in again.
