Pop Century question

I have reservations for Pop Century and have asked for a non-smoking room because my son has asthma. Are there certain buildings that are completely non-smoking? or just certain rooms in each building? Pop Century has outside door entrances to the rooms, am I correct, not inside corridors? Also we have booked a preferred room but I don't know if that makes a difference with smoking/non-smoking rooms? Thanks for your help!

POP does have outside corridors. I am not sure about buildings that are completely non-smoking but the ratio of non-smoking to smoking is huge so you should not have a problem being rather far away from a smoking room. Just be really nice to the CM checking you in and they will do everything that can to accommodate you.

Hi,
POP has specific smoking buildings (I believe the are only two) so i'm sure your son won't be affected by that.Enjoy your trip.
There are smoking rooms in 2 60's bulidings, 1 90's building and 1 50's building. Preferred rooms are in the 50's, 60's and 70's.

So, your best bet would be to ask for preferred, non-smoking in 50's or 70's.

Have fun!

Great, thanks so much! I think I will call back and see if they can put a request in for the 70's building in case I can get it...and oh yes, I'll definitely have on my happy face for the cast memebers at check in ;-)

We always get the non-smoking rooms in the 50's area; however, I have seen several people standing outside of the rooms smoking:( which we have to walk through it.

We had a preferred room in the 1950's building, and it was non-smoking. We were guarenteed NS for medical reasons of my own. But, someone was smoking in their NS room near us and our room smelled like Cig. Smoke anyways.

We stayed at the Pop in Oct and requested non smoking room. It had been smoked in and it was awful. Housekeeping washed the rugs, changed the curtains and the shower curtain and gave us an air purifier, after we complained twice. This helped alot. If it hadn't, we were going to demand to move, but they said we couldn't as they didn't have the same set-up. If you check the room and it has been smoked in, I would leave immediately and demand another room, due to medical reasons. DON'T UNPACK!!!!

I hope you talked to the management about this and didn't just suffer.

When we stayed there in Aug. 06 we were greated by a smoke filled room every night returning from the parks. Front dest told us that 8 rooms are attached to each bathroom vent stack. The smoke was from some one in that other 7 rooms smoking in the bathroom. The official Disney approved fix: Take the cap from the Disney Resorts Bic pen, turn the bathroom vent timer to max, shove pen cap clip under timer twist handle to prevent timer from turning thus leaving blower running all the time. Worked GREAT!!!! No more smoke smell. :sohappy:

We did, but they told us pretty much the same about the bathrooms being connected. We delt with it. In all fairness to POP, this has happened at the Crowne Plaza and a few other hotels we have been at.

Good idea about the vent fan. I will try that the next time I am there:D .

We have stayed at PC twice in preferred rooms each time and I have not had a problem with smoking. Best advice would be to request a room change upon entry if you smell smoke when you enter the room. We stayed in the
60's each time and had great rooms.

Thanks so much everyone! I called Pop Century last night and the lady I spoke with suggested I request building 4 (playdoh bldg) in the 60's. She said the whole building is non-smoking and is preferred choice. I called central reservations and had them put this on my reservations, so I'm hopeful.
