Pop Century bus question.

The last time I visited in 2002, I noticed that each hotel had its own bus to/from each park, except the All Star resorts, there was one bus for all three, which looked like a nightmare at times. I figured it had something to do with all three being very close to each other.

So my question is, since the Pop Century resort is not in the same place, does it have its own dedicated bus to/from all the parks?

Thanks

Pop bus service is fine and pretty equal to All Stars. Only downside is the walk from the park to the bus stop at the end of the day. Since Pop is the newest, the bus pick ups are furthest away. I remember the walk from MK to the bus stop seemed like miles away, so be aware if you are tired and the feet are tired too!
Also in the morning the lines, esp to MK, seemed to take a few buses to get loaded, esp if there are people w/motorized "wheelchairs" waiting to get on.
Plan accordingly and you'll be fine and expect some longer lines at park closings, but as previous posters mentioned, they will often bring extra buses to help.

LOL... I stayed at Pop in January and my wife and I always told each other not to look for the signs on the bus stops... just head to the one furthest away! I think there was one exception where Pop was one of the closest... MGM maybe? I've mostly stayed at CBR with some POR/POFQ thrown in and now Pop; the thing that's nice about Pop is that you won't waste time stopping at every island. I hope they give the Legendary Years their own bus when those finally open! The Classic Years section is larger than one All-Star, isn't it? Add on another full half to that and I hope that the buses won't get combined very often. I hate gettin on the bus to go to a park and then making another stop along the way... or having an almost-full bus pull up.

The stop being the furthest away has nothing to do with Pop being the newest but rather the level of resort. The All-Stars are just as far in most cases as Pop. And AKL which is also very new is closer than many other much older resorts.

If you're staying at Pop and leaving the MK at the end of the night, the bus stop is a madhouse. If you can manage it if you've seen the fireworks show, either be at the bus stop 1/2 hr. before close:eek:(I know, I know) or walk around the MK as long as you possibly can so you're the last out of the park and hopefully you'll be in the trickle of people at the end of the night getting on the busses. Good luck with that last one, especially if you have tired kids.

Yeah, we waited over an hour in line to leave epcot for pop... even with the busses 3 deep! was the longest line i have ever waited for at WDW, including Test Track! I had thought maybe if we milled around the World Showcase after Illuminations it wouldnt be so bad, but even like 45 minutes after the show, we still had that long of a wait. If you have a car and are going to be leaving at the end of the day, drive it since parking is free. I did the next day and only took me 10 minutes to get out of MGM

You'll tend to wait a lot longer at a value resort than a moderate or deluxe (Obviously) Waits can get pretty bad for the value resorts, especially early in the morning or late at night.

My theroy on the morning trip in is to hop on the first bus that arrives. Once we get to whatever park it is then we take a bus or monorail if epcot or MK and go where we need. For example if we are heading to MK and the epcot bus arrives first we go to epcot and then takle the monorail over to MK. We have even taken the bus to MGM and then a boat to EPCOT or the bus to MK.

Pop's buses always have very long lines, expect to wait a considerable amount of time before getting on and then usually the buses are jammed packed. the only this isn't the case is middle of the day and then its a long time between the buses. Not the best bus service and certainly not as good as the moderate resorts.

Its the opposite at Disneyland Paris. The Santa Fe is the first bus stop you come to.

Yes, Pop is larger than an All-Star - each building has 4 floors rather than 3 at the All-Stars. I believe capacity is 2880 guests or so, compared to 1900-ish at an All-Star.

MGM is the only place where Deluxe Resorts can have a longer walk than Value resorts to their bus stop. :) (mock sarcasm) I was appalled that Wilderness Lodge was much further away than the All-Stars!

That is not necessarily true, since I've waited for a moderate bus and all we saw were values pulling up and the line wasn't even as long as ours.

I think the PoP bus system was great. The only down side is that its not covered. If its raining you get soaked. I like the roped off line that they use so that its fair to those who have waited longest. We usually stay at POR and there is always a family in the AM that comes running from the food court as the bus passes the lobby and walks right along the edge of the sidewalk right up to the bus door and squeezes their way on right past the others that are waiting with everyone else. It also stinks whe there is a bus loading for one park and another park pulls up and stops way short. Everyone that has just walked up gets on that bus and the ones that have already waited for a bus that filled up still dosent get on and now has to wait again for another bus. Im just glad the days of the "Cattle Cars" are gone. They were basically a tractor trailer that they pulled up and everyone pilled on. They looked simular to the tractor trailers that they use to haul laundry around the resorts.

I remember those cattle cars! I never had to travel in one, but that's exactly what they looked like. I think that was the biggest reason that DH wouldn't even consider a value resort for a long time.
