Poor Ariel at Fantasmic

I have been laughing about this too. Everytime i see the show I always noticed it also. They literally throw a blanket over her and run to the other end of the ship. They make no effort at all to even hide the fact of what they are doing!!! It is kinda weird for such a thought-out show.

This reminds me of that old "Tony Danza at Disneyland" special, where he's on the Jungle Cruise and everyone ducks for cover when the Natives throw REAL spears into the boat! (I always loved that show, too bad I can't find it in my house anywhere)

As for people not seeing one of Ariel's more embarassing moments, I'm sure Disney is banking on the assumption that you're paying more attention to the GIANT EXPLODING FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA than at the darkened characters on the boat! (Of course, because of this thread, now EVERYBODY is going to be watching the characters!)

She can't just get up and walk. She's a mermaid...you've seen the movie, right? It's just easier for them to throw a blanket over her, than to try to carry her.

This past trip I noticed it for the first time as we sat all the way to the left in the theatre. I'm not sure if this was a one off or not but Snow White and Prince Charming's float was missing from the princess section. Yet Prince Charming was on the boat in the Finale... was Snow under the weather?

Not alot of room to have the pedastal and all the characters moving around as well. The aft end there has the most space for the stool and for movement of characters.

I just got back from WDW Last night, and I wish I would have heard about it before I left! Oh well, there is always next time. :)

I just noticed Ariel and her blanket last Thursday. I figured it was in relation to the fireworks. She is especially vulnerable, bein' more... uh, exposed than most of the characters. :)

Pixie Duster and I have the same friend and he pointed it out to me one night. He calls it the "Mermaid in a Bag" trick. It's not a great pic of it, since it is at some distance, but I am going to try to upload the pic I do have. You really have to look close to see it, though.

I went when Fantasmic frist opened and last year Ariel was still in a blanket at the end. This last time when we where tring to get out of the area to go back to the hotel Ariel was left on the boat for about 20 min.
