We have reservations for a pool view royal room. Has anyone stayed in one of these? Are they okay? We have stayed at Pop and don't like the pool side rooms because of the strong chlorine smell. This will be our first trip to POR. We are excited. I hope to hear good things. How are the restaurants there? Thanks for any info! Heading down there 11/30.

If you do not like the chlorine smell I would not get a pool view room. While I have never noticed it myself even at Pop, it just seems like a no brainier if you had a problem before. The table service restaurant there is Boatwright's and it is only open for dinner. It is fine, but nothing super unique where you just have to eat there. The food court is good and on par with the rest of the food courts at the other Disney resorts.

Save some money and book a standard view royal room. Paying a premium for "view" (which is different than paying a premium for building location) is not worth it at the value or moderate resorts. Your room will only have a small window (the a/c unit sits below it) and unless you plan on sitting on the end of the bed to stare out the window, you are paying extra for nothing.

The royal rooms are all the same inside and are very nice! Plush and deluxe. And the headboard fireworks are awesome!

Thanks for the info. I don't mind the chlorine so much. It was just strong at Pop. I use to lifeguard. I love a pool but something was wrong at Pop. It wasn't just the chlorine. Also, I got a pin for free dining for Oct-Dec and the time we wanted to go there wasn't a standard view royal room available. The pool view wasn't much more than the garden view so that is why we booked it. I am going to keep trying to see if a standard room becomes available. Thank you again. We are looking forward to going.

They might have just shocked the pool. This happens when someone has an "accident".

The Royal Rooms are great. I have stayed in one and loved it. However I don't think that in value or mod hotels it is not worth paying for any view. You don't have a balcony , the view you get is outside of your door in a public hallway over the railing. Why would you pay extra for that view , you are pretty much never gonna look at it unless you are quickly entering or exiting the room. At least that has been my experience. The Royal rooms are great and definitely worth it , but I always get the least expensive view available.

Hi, we sort of had a pool view - not directly from our room as we were the building over from the pool, but due to the building placement, we could see over the courtyard into the pool. The room was nice. Love the Royal Rooms. But I would say the room that was prime, is a corner room. The rooms are on the darker side which is great for sleeping. But during the day, its just a bit dark. We requested a corner a room but we were given one that looks over the parking lot which is not what we paid for. So they moved us but we couldn't get a corner room. It was fine not having one, but if I was to do it again, I would want to secure a corner. :)

We stayed in one when we went in march 2013 and it overlooked the courtyard with the fountain. The pool was not a problem at all. We were half a hallway away from it. You will absolutely love it!

I have stayed at POR more times than I can count. I'm in love with this resort. I love the mansions with the normal decor. The pools are very close to the rooms at the quiet pools. Depending on how crowded it is when you visit the pools can be noisy. We generally stay at a garden view with the fountains or gazebo views.
The Bayou rooms are not my favorite and the pool is by far the better view.

The CS restaurant has so many choices and the food is excellent minus the italian noodle dishes. Desserts at bakery are fabulous. I'm not a fan of Boatwright, it is ok, but just that. If you need food later in the evening the Lounge has some good choices and children are always welcome.
