Pontoon Boats

I'm wondering why they kept the pontoon boats after getting rid of the smaller boats. I don't see many people using them on Seven Seas Lagoon / Bay Lake.

I believe they are used for fireworks viewing excursions along with guided fishing excursions. I do not believe that you are able to rent them on your own without a guide. I could be mistaken on that. I do miss the mini speedboats, our kids enjoyed them when they were younger.

Apparently it was a safety//insurance decision
Sea Racers were dropped because they didn't make enough money. Apparently they were not rented out by Disney to begin with but by an outside company which determined they were no longer financially feasible. I think the first big cut happened back in the Spring of 2014. Having rented them at various times in the past I can understand why they were not that popular... the were pretty pricey and decidedly under powered. Yes the kids thought it was exciting but for an adult it was on only slightly better than those bumper boats in a carnival. I suspect as fuel prices continued to climb the increase in price to make break even probably started to drive away everyone from them.

I also don't think the company that was running the business really cared about quality. I remembered them back in the 80's and they seemed a bit faster back then than they were towards the end. I don't know if threats of litigation caused them to detune the motors or what but they seemed much wimpier.
