I haven't stayed at the Polynesian since 1989...what changes did they make to it? Do they still have the live birds in the lobby? :)

Only 48 more days!!! :D

Yes cutie there was always a resturant on the second floor of the Great Cermonial House. In the 70s and early 80s it was more of a coffee shop style and was called the Papaytee(sp?) Bay Veranda. It had good food in thoes days and in the very beginning they were attracting experienced wait staff from other Hotels in orlando and they were very frendly at that time. I dont know about ouahu(sp) that they changed it to but I hear its very good

I've stayed at the Polynesian in the 80's, 90's and now beyond. The resort gets better with age. I believe its nicer now then we I stayed there are my honeymoon 15 years ago. They got rid of the old pool and put in a terrific volcano pool in 2000. It is a zero entry pool, with a terrific slide that goes through the volcano. Plus it has jets at the one end of the pool. The restaurants are very good. There is a counter service restaurant for a quick meal. We grabbed a quick breakfast there on several mornings and ate outside under the palm trees. Some things don't change, which is good thing, because you still have the nightly electric water parade and the fireworks over the MK.:)
