Polynesian Room Question

Looking at my price notes from 2016 AKL was 323-228 a night and Poly was 452-412 a night, so I think if you cant price into AKL, you might want to think WL, or one of the Moderates.

I know it's a gamble with what you get, but we stayed at the Poly a while back in a standard view room and had a balcony. We looked out on the monorail. I don't recall if I requested things during online check in or called, but I know I had a request in for a 3rd or 1st floor room to ensure we had a balcony or patio. As for AKL, another gamble, but we've always had some kind of savanna view without paying for one. Last time we stayed there, I booked a pool view bunk bed room and during online check in, I had multiple savanna options under room requests. No, it wasn't Arusha, but we had plenty of animals off of our balcony.

WOW! Oh my goodness. I have not stayed in non-DVC in quite a few years. Thanks for the info! DVC always seems to be cheaper anyways I think I'll stay with that for a while!
That is a more recent change - last year or so really. Made quite a few upset about it really.

Thank you for the information--this answers my question. When I was a kid, Poly was where the "rich people" stayed. I'm 49 and certainly not rich, but hope to make it happen!
Oddly I never viewed it as such, but it was the first resort we stayed in after camping and a villa at the village (huge family trip). I will say I love both Polynesian and AKL. Polynesian gets the nod for the location but otherwise I find both to be stunning and quite relaxing.

I just rented points for our last trip at the polynesian. I ended up at about $300 per night. Which oddly was just $16 more than our first 3 nights at the dolphin. The dolphin was $190/night before fees, and $284/night after fees. We're never going back to the dolphin.

Even without a family of five that shower is amazing (favorite shower on property for me LOL)
I took measurements off of the shower when i was there. I just measured upstairs in my house and I have room to duplicate it. I had been wondering in what way i was going to redo our shower, but after using that one i figured out exactly what i was going to do.

Oooh, I hadn't thought of doing that. We plan to add in a shower to a half bath (we have space) I'll have to take notes during our next stay.

Love the Poly, and although my last two trips were at the Yacht, I still prefer the Poly. You can accommodate 5 people in the Poly with the day-bed...which is not available at AK...so I know your dilemma of the "extra" cost at the AK. If we do not stay in the Hawaii building (club) I try for Samoa... some folks don't like Samoa because of the traffic around that LH, but I prefer being near the pool and the GCH rather than near the TTC. To-each-his-own. Also, avoid the parking lots LH/views if possible... they really take away from the "experience".
