Poly View-What to ask for

Hi, me and my DB are staying at the Poly in 18 days! I wish to phone to request to stay at 'Tahiti' building with a view of the castle - please can anyone answer the following-

What is the view called? Magic Kingdom view, castle view - my DB thinks its called a Lagoon view?

I also would like to stay on the 3rd floor (for a balcony). My DB has heard that if you ask for too many things they won't give you them. I've heard you can't ask for a certain room number (not fussed as long as I can see the Castle!)

Plus, we cannot phone the resort directly as we booked through a tour operator but have been told to request this through them, can we trust this info will get back to the Poly?

We stayed at the GF 2 years ago at a 'Lagoon view' room and had a perfect view of the castle, I must have it again!!!!

Thanks for any help :veryconfu

Magic Kingdom (lagoon) view isn't a request, it's a booking category; so unless you booked lagoon view, you can't have it.

Yes, it helps to keep your request simple. If you booked through a travel agent they'll have to make the request and you'll have to trust them. Just ask for upper floor. If you want lagoon view, ask them to rebook and get that category room.

Yes, at the Poly your view is exactly what it sounds like. Lagoon= View of the water, not necessarily the castle. Usually it will be obstructed by trees or an island. Theme Park= guaranteed to see the castle. Make sure you change your booking to theme park view and starting 10 days before you arrive you can fax your request to resort for the tahiti building. Or you can ask your travel agent to request it for you. But remember requests are just that, requests. They are not guaranteed.

I'm just joining in with the others to make sure you realize that if you request a theme park view it's incredibly doubtful you'll get it ... "theme park view" is a separate booking category that costs a lot more per night over a standard ("garden view") room. Requesting a theme park view room is requesting a free upgrade. Everyone who actually paid for it be in line ahead of you.

Same with "lagoon view" (as noted above) ... it, too, is a separate room category that costs more per night than a standard room.

Yeah, be ready for that extra cost.

Thanks for the replies, very helpful.

We decided not to spend alot of money upgrading to a castle view but decided to upgrade to a lagoon view and take our chances, I realised I was probably being a bit selfish by insisting on seeing the castle when I will be a deluxe resort at Disney World! How can I complain! So this is what happened next!!! -

My DB phoned our Travel operator today to ask for the upgrade only to be told their allocated Lagoon rooms have all gone!

We have been advised to call Disney 10 days before we check in to state what building and what floor we would like but not what view! Then when we check in we can then ask for a perticular view!!

Is this right? It sounds a bit stupid to me, you can phone in advance to say what building, why can you say what view during this call? I want to pay for an upgrade, not a request. I am worried that when we turn up the Lagoon views will be gone.

I am willing to lose the view of the castle, but I am not willing to give up the view of the Lagoon for a Garden view, I see trees and grass from my windows back home in England, when on vacation I want to be spoilt!!!!:ROFLOL:
