Hey all –
I normally attempt to create a pre-trip report / trip report, but every year I fail at it. I tend to go into post WDW depression and don’t log into the boards for a couple months. (I can’t be the only one who does this, right?)
Anyways, I figure I’ll overview our trip – mainly food reservations since they’re the most important- and ask a few last minute questions.
Who: My partner and I (Jeff and Kayla). We’ve been the last few years, but have always had others join us.
Where: Polynesian (staying via DVC points). First time actually staying here, so looking forward to the new additions; specifically, the hot tub if it is working.
When: May 2nd-9th.
May 2nd:
Unfortunately we will arrive around 9pm; however, we still plan to head over to MK for a few hours since it is EMH that night.
May 3rd:
8:30 ADR at Kona – We went last year and enjoyed it, although still doesn’t top Boma breakfast for us.
7:30 Raglan Road and then drinks and Ghiradellis.
May 4th:
8AM ADR at Be Our Guest breakfast. We’ve done dinner here a few times, and while we enjoy it, Kayla wants a few pictures in an almost-empty park. I am looking forward to experiencing the tech aspect of my meal automagically making it to me.
7:15 PM ADR at Brown Derby. We aren’t Star Wars fans (actually never have seen a full one), but we did enjoy SWW last year so we figured we would catch the atmosphere for may the fourth be with you.
May 5th:
9AM Boma reservation – This is the one I’m looking most forward to. Normally this is a two to three times a trip reservation, but the commute is going to be a bit tougher from the Poly. We’re flirting with the idea of trying Uber to get there.
6:30PM San Angel Inn – What better way to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. Plus, we wanted to be in Epcot for many more drinks after.
May 6th:
Harry Potter World ! Venturing over to Universal for the first time since being a young child. Not exactly sure what to expect, but we’re big Harry Potter fans. Feel free to toss in any suggestions. Again, we’re pondering with the idea of trying Uber, but not sure how reliable the service is. Worst case, we will just take a regular taxi (Anticipating 40 bucks, is that a safe estimate?)
May 7th:
10AM Grand Floridian Café – This will actually be a first for me, so I am looking forward to trying it.
7:30 PM Jiko- This will actually be my first trip here, I’m even surprised myself. We’re big fans of Sanaa and Boma, but never made it to Jiko. We normally stick to one or two signatures a trip. Looking forward to this one, any suggestions are welcome.
May 8th:
Noon time Mama Melrose – We really enjoy the flatbreads here; affordable and tasty, perfect for a small lunch.
7:50PM ‘Ohana – Figure we will make sure our last dinner is at the Poly. I’ve actually only done ‘Ohana breakfast, so dinner will be a first. Hoping to still make it to MK for Wishes after the meal.
And of course, there will be plenty of bars and trips to Trader Sam’s in between all these.
My remaining questions:
- We both have APs and didn’t bother to customize new magic bands as we have ours from our last trip. I just received an email saying our magic bands are waiting for us at the front desk. I should be fine just using my old band, correct?
- How early do you think we should leave for Universal in order to make it for opening?
