Poly getting extensive renovations starting spring 2020

I think the GF’s rooms need to be completely gutted. The last renovation was a massive improvement but it’s time to reconfigure the room. The bathroom is a problem, it’s not luxurious at all and the shower/toilet area is cramped and dark. They need to combine the space where the sinks are with the shower/toilet space and make it into a Vegas hotel-style bathroom. The bedroom and closet configurations are fine, but they need more modern furniture that has a southern feel. I personally don’t mind the way they’ve been kind of toning down the Disney in the hotel rooms. At the end of the day, the GF is not really supposed to be overwhelmingly Disney themed. It’s supposed to reflect Main Street USA and a bygone Victorian era in the south. The walls need to be a brighter color (I don’t mind wallpaper, but just make the room brighter) and the carpet needs to be replaced. The hotel room doors are so old and have so many coats of paint on them that they stick, they have to be replaced. The sliding glass doors are dated and the patio tile and furniture could use an update. The outer buildings themselves are in need of work too, and the elevators are old and slow. I think it’s time the GF received some TLC instead of the Poly, it just had a massive renovation not too long ago. They can’t expect to charge the prices of the GF and keep its exclusive reputation when guests can stay at the Four Seasons for a little more money but a lot more luxury.

All three monorail resorts are being updated.

I wonder if the new ‘modern’ GF theme that is being touted will be based on the Villas? That comes across to me as a more modern approach to the ‘Grand Florida’ theming, both in the room style and the lobby area.

I also wouldn’t be surprised to see the Poly rooms go in the direction of those in the DVC areas, albeit with some character inclusion seemingly.

I went to the Tikiman's facebook page and saw the pictures--some new sconces and a leafy carpet---all in Rarotonga and at the test rooms. They may not be what they end up doing and who knows when they actually renovate.
