I don't think there has been a period when WDI wasn't working on something. Marc Davis did a model which was *very* expensive, of Western River Expedition, they put in on Main Street, and it didn't happen. It is absolutely no sweat off of Iger, or the board's brow, if they give WDI money to dream up stuff and do concept art. In fact, they'd be negligent if they didn't always push WDI to work on stuff and come up with new ideas.

I think the reason is that when they decide to make an investment, they'll want construction cranes up in a year or so, and it takes longer than that to fully design a ride from conceptualization to final architectural plans. Witness Avatarland. WDI always, "stocks the pantry", with 'products' that can be taken down off the shelf and used in a relatively quick amount of time. Just look at 7DMT, the conceptualization for that started a while ago. Circusland ideas have been worked on even longer than that . . .

Iger is gone in 2016, does anybody really think he'll green light a project now, with so many on the stove top right now?

Nonetheless, WDI has practically announced that there will be some "hints" at the Imagineering presentation.

Logic tells me that anything that is opening during or soon after 2015 will be either announced or at discussed. This includes the new digital Soaring Over The World (not actual name). It also includes the so-called EC mystery attraction (if it's not Soaring). Expect more details on SDMC, Shanghai, Disney Springs, and Avatar (if we're lucky). Any new parades or live shows, such as World of Color, would premier during 2015, so now would be the time to announce these.

It's also possible that Iger's deputies have been reading the forums. Baffled by the high expectations of the Disney fan masses, they've reported back to Mr. Bob, "Sir, Iger Bob, Sir, we have a situation..."

If that's the case, and they have a "situation", Iger will put into effect and executive super-secret Plan 9 (from outer space).

I have this strange feeling... Iger postponing his exit now to 2016... that SSE will be transformed into the DizStar and Iger will declare himself emperor... Just a gut feeling that I have... Hmm...

We're no longer living in Eisner's Disney Decade. Getting hyped up for announcements nowadays always seems to lead to disappointment (unless you're a fan of Meet & Greets). So like others have said, I am keeping my expectations to a bare minimum.

Many of us here are positive thinkers.

I am positive that while I would love a Star Wars land announcement, it will not happen.

TWDC executives will talk about the fiscal third quarter 2013 financial results on August 6th (via webcast at least). Maybe they can announce an upcoming project or two there.

Here's some stuff. Maybe not what some of us were looking for, but...

Star Wars at D23 Expo!
For the first time at the D23 Expo, Star Wars fans can have access to experiences created for them by Lucasfilm and Disney. Darth Vader: The Evolution of a Villain, located in the DCP pavilion, showcases the development of the iconic villain from early concepts to striking realization. Crash Course in the Force: Star Wars Saga 101, presented by Lucasfilm’s resident authority Pablo Hidalgo in Stage 23, will give Star Wars newbies and experts alike a thorough grounding in all matters of the Force and the Star Wars legacy.

Insiders say some Star Wars actors may be making appearances during the D23 Expo, confirming their participation in the J.J. Abrams-directed sequel trilogy — which is expected to hit theaters in 2015. (Filming is expected to begin in early 2014 in the U.K.)

I think that IF they can get their **** together in time, which based on their recent track record is unlikely, then we will get an announcement worked into one of the events they have planned (as one of their surprises). If not hopefully we will at least get a look at the model that was on display at TDO somewhere in the Imagineering forum.

It's an exciting time to be a Chinese citizen now. Maybe they really will beat us back to the moon

Abrams will direct the entire trilogy? That's news to me! I don't know how I feel about that, though.
Ya, that's kinda old news. I'm not a Trek fan and apparently neither is JJ Abrams. But seeing what he did for Star Trek makes me feel as though he'll do a pretty good job on Star Wars. I enjoyed both of his Trek movies.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Currently he has only signed on for one movie... There is no contract yet that has him signed for a second, third or the spin-offs. That said, I too enjoyed the Star Trek films, but I will still reserve judgement until I actually see the SW films on whether I'd want him to stay or not. He's been kind of hit and miss for me on his work.

Maybe. Maybe not.
Optimism! Unusual in these trying times... I hope your "maybe" comes true, but my gut tells me it won't. Ce la vie.

Hey, those big warehouses behind EC we see are actually aircraft hangers and one of them (#18) secretly houses the Millenium Falcon! Shhh... It's a corporate secret not to be told to anyone but here!

There will be no parks anouncement....this will all be about the Star Wars franchise and kick starting that money making franchise.
Credit Suisse Group predicts it will easily hit 1.2 billion in world wide sales not including merchandise. That will be 800 million in profit for Disney not including merchandise.

D3 will be all about Star Wars and the anouncement of new cast and the return of the original cast.
Disney will not steal the Star Wars movie franchise thunder by announcing park news.
That will come later.
