I was disapointed that they never did Westcot. I wonder if that is why some people really don't like California Adventure - they are thinking about what could have been.
That sounds a bit far-fetched to me, but some may feel that way. California Adventure really doesn't have as strong of a theme as EPCOT, Disney-MGM, Animal Kingdom, etc.; and seems mostly to consist of thrill-type rides themed around the state of Callifornia (with the exception of Hollywood Pictures).
People on here don't like old posts, do they? I kind of like them myself - you get to rethink ideas and it beats creating 20 new threads on the old topic.
I still think you should think about a new park, a little different from the other Disney Parks. : )
I was thinking of something I could do
with a group of aquatic/sea/water-themed rides that California Adventure and Tokyo DisneySea shared in common (Jumping Jellyfish, The Whirlpool, etc.) along with a few originals entitled Hook's Revenge, King Neptune's Spinning Trident, and Lilo & Stitch's Hawaiian Roller Coaster. Originally, I planned to have a water park combined with a "dry ride" area consisting largely of rides too intense to fit into the Magic Kingdom. However, this concept seemed weak to me; since guests (especially in a Disney theme park resort) would go to a water park to ride water slides, wave pools, etc,; not to ride mechanical rides. Then I thought about a park similar to Tokyo DisneySea, and then more like Universal's Island's of Adventure; but those didn't work out with these rides either; especially the IOA concept, which really has no strong theme like Disney's parks have and is nothing but a groups of unrelated, loosely-knit themed areas tied around thrill rides.
I really can't think of anything off hand, especially with the rides I mentioned above. However, it should be different from anything else Disney has, especially since I designed this from the standpoint as a U.S. theme park due to familiarity with the culture and that it would be nice to have another Disney theme park close by. Therefore, my 3rd park shouldn't be another EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, etc. The reason I included a studios park was since I really wanted this theme park resort to have a TV/Movie/Animation production facility of some sort; but with primarily different rides and attractions from Disney-MGM!
If anyone has any ideas for a third park, especially with the rides I mentioned above, please LMK by posting your ideas!
How deeply have you gotten into the ride designs themselves?
I really haven't gone quite
that far! In fact, I've never even been to WDW or any other Disney parks (I've read a lot about them), but I am currently planning a trip to WDW, hopefully sometime soon!
