Compare Dream Maker (Silver, Gold, Platinum) to Magic Your Way (Dinner, Premium)

There is tremendous talk about the new ticket price, but I didn’t find much conversation about the WDW changing the new vacation package add-ons. I thought I would start a poll, but this is my first attempt at polls.
=========================================================
Here is my take:I voted: Used Dream Maker (Silver, Gold, Platinum); unsure/dislike the Magic Your Way (Dinner, Premium) We used the Dream Maker Silver Package in the past. We enjoyed the 2 "Magical Wishes" features, which were very flexible. We had the options of going to Cirque du Soleil or enjoyed a backstage tour. We enjoyed the Preferred viewing locations but we most enjoyed the Specially Created Disney Merchandise.

With Magic Your Way Dinner, we do like the one table, one counter and one snack. Many times we didn’t want to eat 2 full meals a day but felt we had to in order to get full value of the Wish. But we will miss most of the other perks.

I guess I dislike that there are only two package add-ons. The Premium is too much and the Dinner Option isn’t enough. Lastly, currently there aren’t as many restaurant options as before (I believe 25 less). Maybe some are unlisted or will be added later. Most of these are in Downtown Disney and Rain Forest Café at AK. I think we will save a little money when booking our package, but unsure if this will mean we will end up spending more money in the parks.

Used the dream maker on our honeymoone and like the all inclusive feel. I think we would like the MYW even better because we can now pay for what we actually use. Never used the waterparks, DQ, etc....

If what is listed is all that will be available, this looks like an end to the equivalent of the "platinum". The Magic Your Way Premium is equivalent to the Gold add-on. I will be very dissappointed if there will not be another upgrade. We have used this particular package for years.

When I first saw this "change" I was under the impression that Disney was basically offering the masses a way to customize their vacations without paying for things that they would never use. Realistically, many people buy the upgraded packages and many of the "extras" in those packages go unused usually do to time constraints. However, there are those of us who actually utilize the extra things that are included in these packages. We have purchased the platinum or equivilent for years. We take long vacations so that we can do all the things available to us through that package. It is great that they are allowing people to have a choose your own adventure ticket, but they have cut off those who want more out of their vacation. Now we have to purchase the extras a la cart. This would be an additional $3000 just to get do all of the things that were included before. So where does this save my money? People wanting more are getting bumped so that others can have a meal plan? Something they could have gotten through the silver add-on if that is what they needed? Changing the packages around will make more peole happy I'm sure but there is a handfull of others out there who will be very mad. I hope that they realize this and make changes to satisfy everyone.

Is this replacing the Park Hopper tickets?...

Yes, and from the way this looks, you will actually save a lot of money by getting a larger ticket (That is if you go often) . Cause a seven day ticket price works out to be about 27 bucks a day, and if you do the plus package its 45 bucks for 5 visits, if im not mistaken by the 5 visits thing, that means you get on average a day at a water park for 7 bucks. Add ten bucks for the never expire option, and I think 35 for the park hopper option, and a seven day park hopper plus now costs about 290 bucks. Which is just a little more that a 5 day park hopper plus if not very close, and you get 3 more days on the ticket at a water park. :wave: I could be off a little on some of this information though.

Very well stated. I feel the same way being forced from the Silver to the new Dinning. I'm losing extras (flexabiliy) that I enjoyed on my vaction. I'm not sure I will save money on my vacation, the package yes. But there will more out of pocket spent at the parks for the extras I use to enjoy from the package.

The best we can do is write guest relations, which I will be doing. I'm hoping others that feel this way will do the same. But like you said, it may just be a handful of us not happy.
Great idea! Let's begin a campaign to reinstate some of the benefits that came with packages of the past. I will start a new thread about it.
