POFQ OR CSR

Taking my 77 year old dad for a short trip to Disney World this fall. I'm trying to decide between those 2 resorts, POFQ and CSR. Which would you pick?

I can list positives for both. CSR has good bus service, and being a convention resort it is less likely he would get on a bus that is standing room only (at which point we would wait or grab a cab). Plus the locations of the bus stops at the park are all pretty close to the park gates, so not a ton of extra walking.

POFQ is small. So getting around the resort would be much easier. And it has that boat to Disney Springs which would come in handy. But I'm not sure about the location of the bus stops at the theme parks.

Opinions? Anything I am missing that would make you pick one or the other?

I kind of like that CSR is on the outer edge of the parks, it seems like it's quieter as long as there isn't a convention in town. French Quarter is very pretty, and the boat to DS is very handy so there is that. Still, I think I'd pick CSR because of the location. I was never terribly fond of the bus at POFQ as it was shared with Riverside, and it tended to be very crowded. I don't know if that's changed in the years since I've stayed there.

While I've never stayed at Coronado Springs, I have toured it and I found it to be okay. We've stayed numerous times at French Quarter and consider it our home resort. We love the water taxi service to Disney Springs, especially at night with the moonlight on the water. Very relaxing.

Since last year, the bus at POFQ runs directly to the parks without stops at Riverside. We did not experience any crowding issues on the bus last April. The bus stop is right in front of the lobby, so it is pretty easy access from anywhere there.

It can still be pretty hot in the fall months in Orlando. CSR is a large resort and, depending on your room location, possibly a lot of walking outside to get to the lobby, restaurants, etc. The only time POFQ shared a bus with POR was for Disney Springs. As so the bus depots in the parks, the placements can change without notice. Plus, when we were there in October, the bus stops for the PO resorts was further away at MK but close to the front at EPCOT. I have no memory of the stops at HS or AK lol. With all of the walking done in the parks, I would chose the smaller resort that has less walking to get back to the room. But then again, I am partial to the Port Orleans resorts :)

i recently looked into CSR for an october trip, & didn't see any availability. not sure if it's due to any kind of renovation, etc.
we are staying at FQ & stayed there a few years ago. it is small & compact, but has a great comforting charm. looking forward to going back.
