Pocky

Ok, I had never, EVER heard of this stuff until I joined this board. Seems like I am missing out on something by not knowing what Pocky is.

So, imagine my surprise when I walked into Media Play this week to check out the after-Christmas sales, and saw POCKY over in their snack area. They had a few different flavors, and I didn't know which one you all think is good, so I didn't buy any.

But if you'll tell me the flavor I should try, I'll go back there and buy some.

And now you know where to find Pocky when you can't get to EPCOT!

OH MY GOD YES!!! :D I baught Mens Pocky (dark chocolate) at the Japan Pavillion a few years ago along with "Muscat Gummy" (a green grape flavored gummy treat) Here is a link to the red grape one: http://www.alde.com/anime/grape.jpg

I thought that this was the only place to get it until I found it at Cost Plus World Market. I love the stuff!:slurp:

Must... have... Pocky....

I ALWAYS have to get Pocky at Epcot. Or Yan Yan, which is just as good. Yanyan os kind of like mini-breadsticks, that you dip in chocolate or strawberry dip. So addicting. Try it next time you see it! :D

pocky and the gummies that raven talked about can also be found probably in any asian food market, or if ur by a city that has a Chinatown, u can find them there too. I'm chinese and just outside of NYC, so i grew up on the stuff.

Milk Chocolate Pocky basically tastes like a Kit Kat, if those of you haven't tried it need a reference. It's considered a "gentleman's candy" because the chocolate doesn't cover the whole stick, so you don't get any on your hands.

It's great stuff, but definatly not worth $3.50 a box that it costs at Mitsukoshi @ Epcot. Since you can the same two pack boxes for ~$1.75 online. Buy a case of 10!

PockY is YummY

We bought one of the industrial size boxes at Narita before our 14 hour flight back to the states.

Its definately not something you can eat just one of and walk away.

Its fairly widely available here in the states. Just check out ethnic/gourmet stores and non-traditional candy stores. Also, if you live in the Boston area, Newbury Comics even carries them!

*sigh* and that's why living in a rural area at least an hour and a half away from any major cities sucks :( the most culturally diverse food market anywhere near where i live is Wal-Mart with it's Mexican aisle. however, i did find the shortbread they sell at the Epcot fish n' chips place at a Super Target in IN. i was so excited! i adore their shortbread!
and i do have a Chinese friend whose parents used to own a local restaurant, and she used to bring all kinds of Chinese candies/treats to school (one day she even brought in some kind of little salmon squares, which i refused to try) but i'm sure if i wanted to order something, i could get it through her. maybe i should ask her about it sometime.
btw, her family makes the best Chinese food i've ever tasted!! :slurp:

I've been a big Pocky fan for almost 10 years. With the rise of anime-fans in this country, its been getting more and more notice. Produced by Glico, these cracker-sticks are tasty.

Since I live up in Illinois, it seems almost every store sells the stuff now. Check out the anime section of a Suncoast Video, or Tower Records and you'll find it in these least likely of locations. It used to be that I had to take a 45 minute drive to an Asian Supermarket to obtain these snacks. Now they're in roughly half the shops. The supermarkets here are now selling imitation Pocky- at double the prices.

As an interesting note: Most vendors are forbidden to sell Pocky at anime conventions.
