PO Riverside vs. FQ

What can anyone tell me about the PO resorts? It will be my first time staying there , we usually stay at an all star. It will obviously be a little more "nice" but how is the bussing for instance? I have to say, I have stayed at a value resort 4 or 5 times and the busses were GREAT, almost never waited longer than 10 or 15 min at the hotel for a park bus (down town was a little longer wait) can anyone tell me the pros and cons of riveride vs. french quarter also?

We were at RS last fall. We loved it. Nothing to worry about,
if you have a similar experience to us.

All week long the buses were great. I think the longest wait we
had was about 10 minutes.

Loved Yeehaw Bob in the Riverside Lounge, great for the whole family.

Loved the theming. Food was good. Room was just right.

Um, loved it! :sohappy:

I have stayed at the POFQ and loved every minute of it. It is more compact than RS so that means less walking. I think the busses will always stop at FQ first too. The themeing was excelent and this is coming from a person who is from New Orleans.

I have stayed at both POR & POFQ and loved them both...but I prefer POFQ for my upcoming trips! The size of FQ is just perfect, no matter where your room is you are close to everything at the resort. POR is much bigger and has 4 busstops throughout the resort so that got kind of frustrating. When we stayed at FQ, we never had to share busses with Riverside, so it was great. Both resorts are amazing in theme, landscaping, and atmosphere. The rooms are very comfortable and roomy with a small fridge and the curtain at the sinks is great for changing.

The boat to DTD is my favorite thing about Port Orleans...it is so relaxing and very convenient!

I have stayed at all the values also, and I still think the bussing at POR & POFQ is better because of the location of the resort. They are just a short ride from MK...very short! AK would be the furthest park. But we still had no problems and thought everything was great.

FQ is amazing. It's very small so it's a quick walk to everything. The food court is big and has plenty to offer. The pool is alot of fun and is also pretty big.

It only has one bus stop though buses are sometimes shared with RS. Each resort has it's own MK bus but share all the rest. FQ is always the first stop in each direction so 1st to get picked up and 1st to get dropped off is always a big plus.

We have stayed at value & moderate resorts.
The moderates are nicer.
I prefer POR to POFQ - especially if you have a family.
POR is scenic & quiet.

We have always stayed at POFQ. It is by far the best moderate resort. It is nice and small and has a very relaxed vibe to it. It is great for couples and children. The buildings all seem to be a short walk to the pool and main lobby/food court area. All the times we have gone, we have requested building 5. We like getting a corner room that overlooks the river and the courtyard. The bus system is way better than POR. Most of the buses just pick up there and take you to your destination. The only ones that seem to make multipule stops are the ones going to AK. They then just drop people off at the waterparks. We have never hopped on the bus and made extra trips in POR. It is always a nice direct route.
I think POFQ is the best, but any resort on Disney would be great because you are at DISNEY!!!!!!!

Did POR Octoberof 2007, FQ December of 2008. For our family of 5 (kids ages 6,4,2), FQ was by far the better resort (especially since Pop Warner takes over POR in December when we went).

Smaller resort, we were able to get the building next to the food court / main lobby, so food, pool, boat dock to DD, gift shop, and bus stop were all 5 min walk away, much closer than POR.

Also, POFQ just seemed quieter and more "cozy" than POR, things also seemed closer together. Highly recommend trying to get a room next to the lobby!
