Test Track's final loop has always been a bit on the lame side. You do the barrier test and then are treated to the grand view of....employee parking and the backside of Mission Space and Mexico. Now with the added bonus of a concrete wall where the MS restaurant is going up.

How hard would it be for them to add some track to the Test Track?

Or even build a mock up of World of Motion's City of the Future or even Walt's EPCOT Progress City for you to zoom through?

Well I think most of it had to do with it being the speed test. I’m not an roller coaster engineer, but I’d assume the track as it stands is one of the easier ways to get it to reach its “high speed” of ~60. I’d assume any variation would make reaching that speed with its current mechanics tough and need a pretty heavy back end investment to just get the speed test portion to work well in a different setting.

As of now, I hate Test Track. A change like that to the finale would make me do a complete 180. BUT, I don’t know if the engineering technology is there because the speed of the ride vehicles may be a problem.

The easy way would be to enclose the track and add the cityscape. I find the ride boring and unimaginative. It had so much potential but it falls short for me. I know others love it. I am a mechanical engineer that worked in the automotive industry for years, you would think I would love this. But for me it lacks thrill, story and the theming seems ridiculously simple. This is just my take on it and I realize off topic.

I loved Sum of all Thrills and was very sadden to see it go. It felt like a better "design" experience to me. That and I used KUKA robots all the time.

Agreed, it also really hurts the attraction when I look at rides that use the same car slot type ride system like Radiator Springs Racers and Journey to the Center of the Earth, that have absolutely beautiful and amazing rockwork built around them. It really makes Test Track look like a joke.

It wasnt meant to be an attraction that gave you an experience other than the oval speed run. You advanced through various tests and end with the speed run, so by changing it up to run through a city would change the premise of the attraction. I would rather see the entire attraction be changed from a Test Track to something better involving race cars, then it would be something.

I think it would be really cool if they added a canopy like the one covering TRON's outdoor portion to Test Track's outdoor portion - it would enable the ride to run in rain and would make the nighttime ride experience that much more exciting. The other option would be to completely enclose it and make it resemble the rest of the ride IMO

I used to like the Test Track update when it first happened 7 years ago, but now that’s I’ve had time to think about it, I think I like the original better. Ironically the current version seems more outdated than the original due to its special effects. The only thing “dating” the original was the pre-show video with Bill McKim and Sherrie due to their late 90s fashion. The test warehouse house theme wouldn’t be dated at all due to warehouses looking pretty much the same no matter the time period. So if they could have just gotten those actors back and reshot the pre-show that’s all they would have had to have done, in my opinion.

Enclosing it has long been a dream for many. Doing so would not only allow imagineers to keep it more "simulator-like" it would also help limit ride shutdowns due to inclement weather. I guess I'd like to see some sort of tunnel enclosure with decorative portal-like "speed rings" that we travel through; an effect similar to the speed ramp in Space Mountain.

Enclosing the "power test" could single-handedly transform Test Track from being an okay attraction to being a very good attraction (plus, as stated here, it could then operate in inclement weather).

Think of it: Instead of suddenly breaking the theme/aesthetic, you would rush down a long hallway with lighting/sound/wind effects that accentuate the speed. You wouldn't be able to see what's around the corner as you bank and turn. The effects would get more pronounced and dramatic as your speed increases for the final straightaway back towards the building. And so on.

1) I wish you could design your car online (app or computer), as the couple of minutes provided isn't enough. I know you can do more after the ride, but there are only a few kiosks in the car gallery.

2) Enclosing, or just adding a Tron bubble would be great and continue the fact that the current ride theme is computer design, not physically testing the car.

3) Electric cars need to be the focus.
