Please put an end to an almost certainly untrue rumor.

I was really hoping someone would mention this before me but I will take the hit for the team on this one. There has been a nasty rumor about EE posted on another Disney discussion forum. I won’t say which because I don’t want to step on any toes or breach a rule of discussion forum etiquette that I am unaware of. (If Steve gives the OK I’ll post the link) This rumor stated that EE was being completely dismantled due to problems with the steel. Now this sounded like complete crap to me as well as nearly every other post in that thread. I’m an engineer in the construction business and I know that completely dismantling a nearly complete structure pretty much never happens. However for my own piece of mind I would love to hear some confirmation from the people on WDWmagic. Quite honestly when it comes to Disney rumors WDWmagic it the only source I trust.

It doesn't take an engineering degree to just look at the structure and see that the structure is supported with enough steel beams. If there is a problem with a piece of steel then they will replace the steel that needs to be replaced. Also they do not have to take down the whole structure to fix a structural problem, they can simple reinforce the structure with more steel.

They have spent way too much time and money for this attraction to be taken down. If four hurricanes could not blow this thing down, then I don't know how all of a sudden there is a problem. They checked the attract right each hurricane and found nothing wrong.

It's true. I was at AK this morning and took this picture of them blowing up the attraction!

That’s kind of what I was implying when I said that a nearly completed structure is almost never dismantled. There is almost always a less expensive fix. But in engineering terms a “failure” doesn’t necessarily mean that the building comes crashing down. “Failure” more often means that something is not performing to a set standard. Also it was suggested that the hurricane did some damage to the main supports. Still it all sounded like complete BS to me. The probability of storm damage taking this long to discover is nearly zero.

True!!! Also, do these people really think the engineers of this attraction never thought about a hurricane hitting this attraction when it was in its planning stages. The attraction was built from day one with the weather in mind. Actually structuraly speaking the attraction was more structuraly sound when the hurricanes hit because the wind could pass right through the beams. These beams are not pasted together with elmers glue.

Everybody knows that the construction workers lick both ends of the beam and stick them together, that is how they are put in place ;)

Believe me I do. I just can't stand rumors that far out floating around. My main purpose in this thread was to debunk it maybe even finding out the source. Many times these rumors are born out of fact that gets blown out of proportion. I suspected that something like 1 beam was found to be made out of the incorrect grade of steel and it was removed and replaced. This got mentioned to someone, who mentioned it to someone else and before you know it EE was going to be imploded live on the Discovery Channel.

Just joking there Folks!!!

You mean you didn’t hear about that. It blew down during the second hurricane but they keep a spare hidden in Cinderella’s castle (They had the room after the missiles were removed ) they then teleported it to AK using the transporter technology they have been secretly developing for the Chinese mafia.

They started taking down the rock structure this morning.

Wow, I'm gullible! That line there had me worried for a few seconds. And then I scrolled down. :hammer: I need to start going to bed earlier, or something.

No they arent taking it down. In fact, the peek that is on the ground to the right hand side of the mountain (the yellow covered one), will be put in place Thursday or Friday this week.
