Hi all. We are going to WDW soon and I am looking for some info and I am stuck I cannot find it anywhere. My husband really wants to go and view the Shuttle Launch when we are down in WDW this time. However the tickets for the vister complex viewing are not on sale yet and I would not get them shipped out this close to us leaving since we are from Canada and that seems to take awhile. I was wondering if anyone has any info on off site viewing locations??? My hubby read about one but not much was written about it. I believe it was called Titusville. Does anyone know if this is a good location and if so how far ahead to you need to be there. ANY info on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. :)

Space View Park in Titusville is about 15 miles across the lagoon from the shuttle launch pads. I've watched launches from there before and it is really cool... you see the flame from the shuttle ignition, then the shuttle starts to move and then (eventually) the sound of the launch arrives from across the lagoon.

A couple of things to keep in mind...
1) Arrive early. The diehards arrive the night before for a day launch. Don't expect to get there an hour beforehand and still find parking or places to view from.
2) Expect bad traffic afterwards. The last time I went the 45-60 minute trip back to Orlando took over 3 hours.
3) The shuttle might not launch at all. There are holds built into the countdown and the shuttle launch might get scrubbed at any time.

Thank you so much. When you say arrive early... do you think 3 hours would be good or should we be there like 6 hours ahead? I don't think we would go and camp out. Is there a place you walk to to watch this or are you parking and watching from your car? I am sorry I have no idea how this all work. Thanks again.

To be honest as long as its not really cloudy u can see the shuttle from any anyplace within a 70 mile radius of the cape, but anywhere along the "space coast" (satellite beach, malabar, viera, titusville, rockledge, cocoa, Merritt island etc.) your gonna get a good view. Though titusville is perfect unless you can get to the NASA viewing site (but you have to be cleared like a week in advance for that.) well good luck!

I would like to thank you all for all your help and valuable information I really appreciate it. Unfortunatly we will not be able to see the launch after all since the launch date has been moved to Nov 16th. Thanks again.
