Please Help Me Decide

Help!

DH and I are going to WDW 9/15 - 9/23. My mother, sister, niece and nephew are staying at CBR with free dining. We are AP holders and got a great rate at the Dolphin ($179). We like it there so we were excited with the rate.

Today I booked the a Cabin at Fort Wilderness. Never stayed there before but the AP rate was $169. Not much of a difference but we can park right at the cabin and it's like $10 per day to park at the Dolphin. DH would also use valet if we were at the Dolphin and there are tips ($4) per day average so there is a savings there too.

Also, we have a kitchen at the cabin and we'll save on meals (where we don't already have ADRs.)

I feel sort of funny .... just the two of us in the big cabin, but we've not stayed there before and I'm really wanting to check it out.

Anyone have any comments, suggestions, etc.? I have not cancelled the Dolphin yet .... wanted to check here first.

Thanks!!

Well, I can throw a vote in for the Dolphin. I have stayed at the Dolphin, Swan, Boardwalk and Yacht/Beach Club. The great thing about these resorts is the comfort of walking to both Epcot and The Studios. No rushing to a Bus at the end of the day or fighting through the crowd, just a leasurely walk to your room! Not to mention the Boardwalk area is right there. So...that is my $0.02. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the reply. I agree with you regarding the Dolphin. It is so close to a lot of things. DH is disabled so we normally don't use Disney transportation but even so...

I am really having a hard time deciding on which reservation to keep.

Go for the cabins - they're great. My favorite place to stay.

The only extra cost at the cabins would be to rent a golf cart. But depending on where your cabin is, you may not need one. You also would only need one if you want to take the boat to the Magic Kingdom instead of driving or to get to the restaurants (again, unless your cabin is close enough to walk.).

Please tell me more about the golf carts. :) Any ideas on the cost? Do they rent them by the day/week/length of stay, etc.? Can you park them at your cabin along with your car? When I booked, the agent told me that there is room for one "vehicle" only at the cabin.......

Thanks!

Yes, you do park them at your cabin. That's where you plug them in to charge them. I'm not sure of the cost, but it's not cheap.
It's also a good idea to reserve a golf cart before your trip because they do sometimes rent them all out.
