I was wondering if anybody out there can guide me in the right direction.

I am looking for a book that will show all the attractions of Walt Disney world. Both present attractions and extinct ones like 20k, horizons, alien encounter, delta dream flight, world of motion etc....

Something along the lines of an encyclopedia with pictures.

Does anything like this exist? Is there anything similar to it that is recomended by you guys

Thanks a lot in advance.

A better bet for old attractions is ebay for one of the hardback souvineer books - era late 80`s early 90`s - look for a pale yellow cover with a single castle photo. They have great large colour photos of all the attractions of the era, and the EPCOT attractions got 4 pages each. Hang on....

....look here

on the top shelf, just right of centre. See the 2 with the old WDW logo? Those. They don`t have ISBN, but do have codes w0127 10003 989 and w0127 10003 1190

Marni, I got to ask, as an architecture student, where did you get some of the blueprints? I understand if you cannot reveal your sources, but it would be super awesome if I was able to get my hands on one or a few of those myself, hopefully to frame and hang up in my house as wall art. Thanks!!

No worries. Some I got a while back on ebay, others I `aquired`.

ebay still has some from time to time.

Thanks. That's about what I figured. I have the Architecture of Reassurance book, which is awesome, looking to pick up another in the very near future as well. Any suggestions for a book with a similar slant, that is with an emphasis on design, architecture and planning in particular??

"Acquired" - that's just not fair. :D I wish I had the sources you and a few select others have.

Whoa, I'm not sure I know where to start.:ROFLOL: Thanks a heap! I suppose I'll start at the Art of Disney Architecture because it has the topic in the title, unless you might suggest otherwise?? Either way, thanks for the extensive list, now I just need to find the time to read all of that.

EDIT: Now that I browsed the list a bit more thoroughly I realized I have the Imagineering Field Guides, they were alright bathroom reading, short and to the point, but somewhat light on substantive information. I breezed through them in a night if I remember correctly. I love the Architecture of Reassurance, I actually got to see the traveling exhibit at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh many years ago, and bought the book there the same day, so something along those lines, a nice mix of history, technical information, obviously great concept art, and round it all off with some healthy critique. Am I asking too much??

Just a note that I always like to throw out there... Alibris.com is a great place to find a lot of these out of print books for cheap. It's where I acquired most of mine and I have my "research library" that's only a little smaller than Martin's.
