Sorry. When you said "So I have to assume that any savings from the promotion would be mitigated by the extra money we'd be paying out for the dining plan" you made it sound like you "assumed" there would not be a savings and that you did not actually run the numbers.

Sorry. No. When I posted that I was unsure of exactly what the PS&D was and how much it saved. :D

Alright. Here's a game changer for us.

Just before leaving work this morning, I went online, saw the PS&D offer for POR, and snagged it. We originally booked room-only for CBR because the room rate was a lot cheaper than POR. For some reason, PS&D is cheaper at POR than at CBR, so I booked at POR. It would be our first time in a royal room, which mom has wanted to try for a while. I was going to surprise her with that piece at check-in. I didn't bother cancelling the CBR room-only reservation just yet.

But.........

To throw a very magical wrench into things, I noticed that it would only cost $1,000 for us to upgrade to a deluxe studio at OKW. Split three ways, that means only $300ish each to finally get to stay at a deluxe. We've always dreamed of staying in a deluxe, so we decided to go for it. If we're going for 10 days, it makes sense to splurge...or at least that's what I'm telling myself. I called, because I didn't want to make a third reservation and risk screwing things up. The CM was super helpful and excited for us, and seemed surprised at such a good rate for OKW. She switched our PS&D reservation from POR to OKW, and cancelled the CBR one. It all only took about ten minutes, and would have been even faster if I hadn't been a bit indecisive.

We're very excited to try a new resort, which is even closer to DTD/DS, and has bigger rooms, kitchenettes, and balconies!!! Thankfully I only had to pay the $200 deposit today, so we have a few months to set aside the balance.

Long live PS&D!!!
Awesome! I called at 7:00AM while at work, they were "still closed". Called at 7:02 and they were experiencing technical difficulties with the lines, 7:05 finally got through and had to wait on the phone for 1 hour...man that was painful. Needless to say I booked the dining with our package. We were not going to do the DP and just pay out of pocket but, with the dining plan prior to this morning it was $2,697.04 after the SPD discount it brought us to $2,452.08 savings of merely $244.96.

Prior to this discount being released my girlfriend and I figured we would spend around $658.88 on food in Disney without the dining plan. Bringing our total with rooms, tickets and paying for food out of pocket to $2,373.28. There is a difference of $78.80 in favor of paying out of pocket BUT the choices for our meals were items that were mid range compared to me choosing a $30 steak, no mugs, etc. All in all I booked the dining plan for the SPD and feel good about it..any savings count.

PS did not get to book any other resort I would only book standard rooms IE at AKL but they are all booked :(

Yeah! You will love OKW. Or at least I think you will. I am an owner there and at AKL and we love it. It is much older than some resorts but it is very quaint. Plus you can take the boat to Disney Springs. I am excited for you and I don't even know you!!

Thanks!! We're very excited. We'll be there for a nice long stay by our standards, and staying at a deluxe (even if it's the oldest) is huge!

I just saw this on here and was heading to Disney in early January. I tried to get it for the three days that it says you must have and they say not available. I put in 5 days and it is available. So they say a minimum of 3 days, but I guess they do not mean it. They can get more from someone else, so by pass the guy who is not needing the huge package. It would of been still over $2000 for 3 nights for 4 of us.

Forgive my ignorance here, but if I were to stay at Pop Century during the PS&D promo how much would I save for a 9 night stay on 3 people with PH tickets? Also, do I need to book the DDP?
We booked our trip the first day that the PS&D deal was offered - we're booked for Feb 28-March 7, at Pop, 3 people, with PH and the DDP, and we saved $500 with the deal. With the extra 2 days, I'm sure it would be closer to $600, or maybe more. I think the booking has to include at least the QS dining plan, but not 100% sure.

We booked through a local "Disney only" agent, and she had to try all day to get through to book, so it sounds like alot of people were hopping on board with this deal.
