it is a sight. as we know 101 dalmatians is the next platnium. But i have a feeling platniums are almost over because of 101's release. if you have relized that it was one of the final ten in the "classics" line, it came the final year of the "Masterpiece Collection" and was one of the last limeted issues (well duh there was only nine) so i have a feeling the platnium editions are almost over. does anyone else agree?

They are slipping off my mind, but haven't a few "classics" still not been made into "platinum dvds."

Yes, I think they still have a way to go. One thing to consider, this is driven by $$$ as much as anything, so if they line is still popular they will continue it with all of the animated features even ones we may not think of as classics...

I just hope they really do stop all the direct to DVD sequels...Aladdin 75 The Agrabah Redemption...:p

Eh, there's still a ways to go. According to this website: (http://www.ultimatedisney.com/ultimateclassics.htm), we still haven't gotten the following in platinum:
  • Pinocchio
  • Fantasia (Both original and "2000" versions)
  • Dumbo ("Big Top Edition," but no "Platinum" yet)
  • Various "Package Features" (Saludos Amigos, Make Mine Music, etc.)
  • Alice in Wonderland
  • Sleeping Beauty
  • The Sword in the Stone
  • The Aristocats
  • Robin Hood ("Most Wanted" edition, but no "Platinum")
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ("Friendship Edition," but no "Platinum")
  • The Rescuers
  • The Fox and the Hound
  • The Black Cauldron
  • The Great Mouse Detective
  • Oliver and Company
  • The Rescuers Down Under
  • All other Animated Features released since The Lion King
Lots of good ones that haven't made the jump to "Platinum." And, we musn't forget Song of the South. :) I doubt all of these will receive the Platinum treatment, as there were some real duds out there, like The Black Cauldron.

I'd go for the ones in bold. I bought what I assumed was a Platinum edition of Alice in Wonderland just this past weekend. I wonder what it was, then? edit: Rather, what the difference is between Masterpiece Edition and Platinum Edition.
