Plastic or Paper?

the first two times i went to disney my park tickets were all on my room card but the last time i went i had to carry my room key + a paper pass to get into the parks. I foudn the paper one not to work as well and the first two days i had to get it replaced (Mk and AK) because they would not work. I was just wondering if anyone else had an experience like this and how do they decide if it will go on your room key or not. We asked for it to be but they said they couldnt do it, and couldnt even give us our park tickets at the hotel we had to get them at a park.

That's very strange. Did you book your All-Star room through that special priceline deal earlier in the summer by any chance?
I know that the Swan and Dolphin keycards can't be integrated with the park passes.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the way I understand it...

If you book a room only reservation and get your tickets later or earlier, you will have the "paper" tickets and they will not be on your room key. If you book a package through Disney, your tickets will be part of the resort booking and they will be on your room key.

For whatever reason, they can't take seperately purchased ticket media and "transfer" it to your resort booking so they are not able to place your ticket information on the room key.

With all that said.. I've never had any problems with either ticket media. In fact, I've heard of more problems with the room key because it can apparently become "de-magnitized" easier than the mylar media. The mylar tickets are not really paper and are much stronger and more durable than paper stock.

Exactly. While it sounds a little ironic the paper tickets are actually more durable than plastic. The plastic tickets become demagnetized much more frequently than the paper ones. The printing on the plastic tickets will also begin to wear off quite quickly as well.

Nope, we booked through a travel agent and booked everything all at once. We booked with a travel agent on our trip prior to and we had everything on our room card. It was annoying though, when we had to go get new ones two days in a row
