Planning what to pack. What do you think? Any tips?

We are going to WDW 12/31/12 and staying for 8 days. There are two of us going, myself and my 11 yr old son. I have in my plans a day to do laundry so that should help.

This is the hardest part of a vacation... and the only part I don't like much.

My goal... 1 large suitcase for both of us and a carry-on each. Do you think this is even possible?

So here are some of my thoughts... jeans and light weight long sleeve t-shirts and sweatshirts/fleese hoodies. 2 pair of shoes one we'll travel in the other in the suitcase. Since we are traveling from Northern VA in Dec we'll have jackets on. Of course pj, undies, and socks.

What else do we need to make sure we have in the suitcase. I don't use hairdryers or curling irons or anyting so not bringing any of that and the resort should have a hairdryer anyway.

Does anyone have a list for packing that you actually use? I've seen some but so many times we've been and it seems that I don't use the things that I've packed.

ANY ADVICE OR TIPS ARE WELCOME.

It has helped me immensely on my trips. In several trips to WDW, I can honestly say that I haven't never forgotten to pack anything. Enjoy!

lol...lucky you...I ALWAYS forget 1 thing :p

TOTALLY doable!! We pack my 3 sons, my husband and I both in one suitcase and then we each have a carry on.

I use the space saver bags that you just pack, seal and roll the air out! Hubby's stuff in 1, mine in 1, and the kids get 1 for shirts, 1 for pants and 1 for socks/undies.

We wear our heaviest layer on the plane.

I don't carry any liquids in my carry on at all, just undies, stuff for the kids to do, and my electronics and camera! (Undies get rolled into a Baggie so no embarrassing foils if they need to go through your bag...lol). I only bring what we really need :)

I don't use hair products or curling irons/straighteners or what not, so no bulk there and the only makeup I wear is eye makeup, so that makes it easy :)

Gum. It isn't sold at OIA or WDW.

Small pair scissors. You'll be surprised how glad you'll be that you brought them.

Extra pair of shoes in the event the first ones get wet. Cold, squishy feet would suck.

Nail file.

Chargers for electronic crap.

If you are driving, a roll of quarters (fit nicely in the mini M&MS plastic containers) and some singles for the drive in.

If you're going to be using bellmen and valet, you'll want to have tip money for them.
OMG YES!! Gum!!! I'm a gum fiend! Some kind of oral fixation, I have to have gum or I start clenching my jaw! Lol BRING GUM!!!

YES RAIN PONCHOS!!!! I always take along a few of those rain ponchos by Coleman from Target...usually one for each of us in 3 colors so we can be coded if need be...they don't take up much space but have always used at least one set, sometimes ALL...for either water rides when temps drop or rain itself. :) Good that you already have some....but while I am queen of recycling rest of the year...it's awful convienent to just pitch these after they are wet....o_O....don't tell the green police....:p
