Planning Trip w/ Dogs w/ No Car and Old Tix. Help!

Hi, new to the board. My gf, my family, and I are planning to go to Disney in just two weeks. We have not booked our hotel yet. We wanted to stay off-park anyway, but having dogs is a little bit of an obstacle. To boot, me and my gf are flying down early and will not have a car while my family is driving down a couple days earlier. So we need access to a shuttle.

I guess what I want to know is what is a good place to stay off the park that is 1). close, 2). takes dogs, 3). has a shuttle, 4). is clean (and maybe 5) has a continental breakfast).

Also, does anyone have any experience taking this shuttle? I know it's not the best thing in the world, but what should we expect out of it?

Another thing, me and my gf have old tickets. My pass has 2 days left on it while my gf has 3 passes we think have one day each left on them. They are unnamed. I know we have to go to the gate to get them checked, but what is that process like? Can we just wait on line and slip the ticket through or do we have to go to ticket booth? How long does it take to do that? And, what time does the ticket booth open? I'm not trying to cut into too much park time. Thanks!!!

can't comment about staying off site as we have never done it. But the tickets can be checked by customer relations in downtown disney. no need to get a surprise while trying to get into one of the parks. If you are going to the magic kingdom there is a kennel at the transportation and ticket center and once you have a car you can drop off the doggies and pick them up at the end of the day or just leave them there for the duration. I would assume they will let you board them there even though you are not staying on property.

Here is the webpage about the Disney Kennels...there appears to be one for each park... http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/common/guestServicesDetail?id=GuestServicesKennelsDetailPage

Here is some info where we stay on our day of arrival before checking in the next day onsite:

Holiday Inn Express
8686 Palm Pkwy
Orlando, FL
Ph: 407-239-8400

Pets are welcome with a one-time non-refundable fee of $50.00. Weight limit is 40 lbs. Pets must be cared for at all times.

Free Breakfast: Mostly Continental, but also has scrambled eggs and either bacon or biscuits with gravy.

It has a shuttle to the parks, no shuttle from airport though if that is what you were asking about. It does mention on the website that it is 15 mile from MCO and one way taxi fare is $45.

In our experience the rooms have been very nice.

Is also next to a shopping center that has a few restaurants and an Olive Garden nearby.

Can't really help with hotels that allow pets since I have never had to ask that question. However, I have stayed off site a few times and know that most places have fairly infrequent shuttle schedules. Usually there are two pickups in the morning to take you to the park and then two in the evening to bring you back. You are unofrunately on their schedule when it comes to those things in most cases.

I would recommend going to guest relations when you arrive and let them check your tickets. If you get to the gates and the passes don't work, you are going to have to do this anyway. You might as well just spend a few extra minutes for the peace of mind.

You might also consider renting a Condo that accepts pets. There are some really good deals on Condos right now (especially studios - if it's just you and your girlfriend) that can sometimes be cheaper than a hotel. AND it's much easier to walk your dogs.

Are the dogs yours? Are they flying with you?

Edit: I realized you must need the shuttle to the parks for the days before your relatives (and their car) join you.
