Pre-Trip Planning the Honeymoon - The Aussie's Pre-Trip Report

Who are we:
Jasmyn (me, 27) and Dan (32), my wonderful, kinda new, husband. We are from Perth, Australia.

We are staying at All Star Movies from the 11th – 22nd September 2019, in a preferred room. I’ve requested the Toy Story Section, but who knows what we will end up with.

On our last trip to WDW in May 2018, we got engaged, and at the end of our trip around America, we got married in Las Vegas (read our previous trip report for those exciting stories HERE!)

So now we are FINALLY coming up our long-awaited honeymoon.
Dan was adamant that we did not need to go back to America, again, for the 3rd time in so many years. Coming from Australia, its normally at the very least at 25 hour trip just to get there, and then again getting home. The AUD exchange rate is also ridiculously low at the moment, we are only getting 0.68c to the US dollar, so it makes for a VERY expensive trip.

I was lucky enough to twist his arm back in January, saying we we strictly do WDW and we won't travel around the US this time. He was in!
We booked our leave from work and paid for the flights and our Disney deposit and then the planning set in!!

I am a Virgo, and true to my star sign, I am a massive planning.
Below is our most up to date spreadsheet.
I’ve changed SO many things since booking the trip, this plan changes almost daily in some way or another. But I think I’m pretty set on it now.

Let’s be honest... By day 4 I doubt we will even be following this plan at all hahaha

Since this will more than likely be the last time we get to go to WDW/America for a very long time (hopefully kids on the horizon sometime soon), I wanted to make this the most special trip I possibly could for Dan and I.

A lot of planning, as you can see, has gone into this.
This is the first time we have done the Disney Dinning Plan. Which will be nice to have most of our trip pre-paid before we get there. This is what we have planned food wise.

Quick Service Restaurants we are hoping to try:
Be Our Guest (Lunch) - MK
Be Our Guest (Breakfast) - MK
Sunshine Seasons - EPCOT
Yak & Yeti – AK
Nomad Lounge – AK
Columbia Harbour House – MK
Peco’s Bill Tall Tale Inn – MK
Woody’s Lunch Box – HS
Snack/Drink around the World at EPCOT Food & Wine Festival

List of Table Service Restaurants already booked:

Skipper Canteen – MK
Mama Melrose – HS
Yak & Yeti – AK
La Hacienda de San Angel – EPCOT
Cinderella’s Royal Table (dinner) – MK
O’Hana (Breakfast) – Poly
Narcoossee’s – Grand Floridan
Trattoria al Forno (Breakfast) – Boardwalk
Frontera Cocina – Disney Springs

We are also extremely lucky to have saved a lot more money then we were expecting for this trip (thank goodness I work 2 jobs and Dan was happy to miss out on all the extras at home to help save!)
Because of this little bit of extra cash, I wanted to upgrade hotels. Dan couldn’t justify it. “We don’t need to spend that much extra, when we will only be sleeping there, find something else to do with the money” he said.
Well fine.

I stumbled upon VIP Tours. I have booked the Ultimate Day of Thrills Tour and the Ultimate Night of Adventure.

The Ultimate Day of Thrills was $349 USD each and includes:
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – MK
Splash Mountain – MK
Space Mountain – MK
Haunted Mansion – MK
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – MK

Soarin – EPCOT
Lunch at Sunshine Seasons – EPCOT

Slinky Dog Dash – HS
Toy Story Mania – HS
Rock N Rollarcoster – HS
Tower of Terror – HS
Star Tours – HS

The Ultimate Nights of Adventure is only at Animal Kingdom and was $249 each and includes:
Killamanjaro Safari
Expedition Everest
Flight of Passage
Na’vi River Journey
Dinosaur
Rivers of Light
Snacks are also included – reports I have read say it includes “snacks” at Satu’li Canteen, so I have my fingers crossed for that.

We are also attending MICKEY’S NOT SO SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY on the 15th September.
In Australia, we don’t celebrate Halloween at all, so I am overly excited to get to experience it!
We are also doing Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios (but I think I’ll be leaving early from that event, I am such a scaredy cat!)

I am secretly organising a custom in room celebration, consisting of the Sparkling Wine we had at Cinderella’s Royal Table on the night we got engaged (I’ve been trying to find it in Australia, but its nowhere to be found), Mickey Flute Glasses, cheese, crackers and chocolate, all delivered to our room on our arrival night.

If anyone has any other exciting ways to make this trip EXTRA special. I am all ears :p

Nomad Lounge – AK

I LOVE Nomad Lounge, but just a heads up, it's not on the DDP. (No real meals, more like small plates). Still worth a visit!

I'm excited to hear about your tours! As far as other special add ons, have you considered a dessert party? Or a couple's massage at one of the deluxe resorts' spas? Round of golf? Just some ideas of "extra" things Disney offers!

Yep I did notice that! I mainly want to go for the drinks and to get out of the midday sun :)
I'm actually really excited to try it there.

I was also thinking a couple's massage would be nice!! Maybe at the Grand Floridan? I'm sure by day 5 we will be dying for a massage.

We will be at Movies Sept 14/15th and then we switch to POP. We have the halloween party on Tuesday the 17th.

YAY!! Maybe we can plan to run into each other while you are there!
@joejccva71 will also be there with us too.

Wow! You've been busy! :joyfull:
(P.S.: Really love the custom in-room celebration you're planning -- wonderful idea!!)

Best wishes for your upcoming honeymoon trip. :)

(As a side note only, you might want to pace your walking and park activities during the daytime, if you're not acclimated to the Florida heat. Some people aren't affected by the sun and heat at all, while others need to take a few breaks to get inside to the A/C and maybe sit for a little while. For me, I'm the latter, and I also always wear a hat in the daytime - just a regular cotton baseball style cap.) Lastly, don't forget your sunscreen lotion!

Thanks for the tips!
Australian summers are pretty brutal too, but coming from our Winter, might be a little shock to the system.
Hopefully we adjust back to the heat pretty quickly, but if not, I'll 110% be taking your advise :) xx

Excited for and jealous of you guys! I love reading about fellow Disney loving Aussies since I know the lengths I've had to go to, to get my hubby to WDW three times as well! I appreciate the effort it takes just to get there let alone the $$$. I've been trying to convince my hubby to take one more trip before kids and he thinks they put something in the water there to hypnotise people to come back 😂 . Sure! It's called Disney magic! I am also a Virgo and also a HUGE planner and am loving your spreadsheet, excited to read about your trip when it happens :):)

Thanks so much for following along. Hopefully the actual TR is a lot more entertaining than this. I feel like I'm just counting down the seconds until its time to leave!
