Ok. This is for people like myself who are not visiting WDW this year.:( So to all you lucky folks who are going in 2013,have a magical time. Now to my task. My next trip will be in July/August 2014. The number one thing of course is the mighty dollar and our savings are looking good so far, every penny ( cent ) counts..We have a target for 2014 and a rough idea what 14 days will cost. But my question is to those who are planning a 2014 vacation. What ideas do you have to keep the excitement going and the plans involved in making your dream come true.;)

You mean, ideas besides lurking here? ;) We're not going again until May 2014. So far I've occupied myself by staying up-to-date on the NextGen status and updating my touring plans to take it all into account, and making overly elaborate "Disney Dossiers" for my aunt (who has never been to WDW) and Dad (who hasn't been since 2005), who will be traveling with us. The dossiers include park and resort maps, information on Disney tickets/Magic bands, dining plan, where we're going to stay, packing lists, flight/airport information, budgeting information, an expansive dining survey, etc.

It's to the point where the only thing I could do to make myself look MORE obsessive would be to haphazardly paste their names on the dossiers with cut-out letters from magazines, a la a serial killer ransom note...:D

Yes I am luck enough to be going this year! That being said I also only get to go about every other year so to keep me sane once my 2 week good mood is over after I get back home, I immediately start a spread sheet of was was great ok and not as well planned or as good as I had hoped! That's the start of planning my next vacation. By the time the holidays roll around I pull out everything I bought and put away for Christmas and have a stuff I got from Disney wrapping afternoon!:) Taking way too many pictures to look back on also helps. Now I'm about 17 months from going again time to start telling everybody who wants to get me something for various occaisions Disney gift cards!! Now it's time to really start planning as soon as I get the next year's school calendar! Oh boy I need a life or a few drinkks I've been snowed in too long! LOL

Even though we have been fortunate enough to travel to WDW a few times a year, I still think about going again as soon as I return. I never take a trip for granted. You never know when the kids will ask to go somewhere else (hopefully never, since that might be a sign they're growing up). I just read here daily and that's my fix. Sometimes though, reading the forums makes it hard knowing others are enjoying themselves where I would love to be. But I'm happy for everyone on these boards when they get excited to go!!!!

Well, we're blessed to be able to go June 2013. Originally it was going to be December 2014 ( which I hope we can still do).
We planned on BC and of course hopefully enjoying the new SDMT!
We will miss BOG this time, so hopefully we'll be able to make a ressie there for 2014???
Other than that, we can't wait to go back again @ Christmas time to see some of the Christmas things we missed in 2007!;)

We are very blessed to e going this year as well but have not been since 2011 - about every two years is all the vacation budget will allow. I have been visiting boards, listening to Disney Parks radio on the net - I clean the house with it blasting (kind of makes the task go quicker or so I tell myself) , & watching my favorite Disney classics with the kids - just last night caught Cinderella on CBC. Don't worry your time will go fast - just be sure to give yourself a "little Disney time" about once a week - that is what I call the cleaning ritual mentioned above - cleaning just sounds like work.;)

My DS and his family are doing themed dinner and movie nights. They're doing a different Disney film at every 25 days. During the last few months, they're planning to do a different EPCOT country every 2 weeks...dinner and movie...using a Disney film that 'relates' to that country and having a meal using recipes found on allearsnet.

These boards are the greatest pick me up and keep me going ever! This place is all Disney all the time....food, resorts, drinks, rides, hints...its all good. Every time I think my trip is too far down the road, I come here and lose myself for a couple hours and its as close to being there as it gets from my sofa. Listening to WDW radio from the various internet sites is an awesome way to feel closer to the magic. Looking thru all the different menus keeps the planning in action and really gets you looking forward to your trip. Thank goodness for the internet!

My suggestions would be to try and focus on a other things, while keeping an eye on the prize so to speak. Plan day trips to places if you can. For Disney fixes however count the big days til you make reservations, til you hit 400 days to go. etc. Maybe make a marathon of certain movies. And of course visit certain sites. For an even more, hit up youtube and watch a ride. We do this with our son to get him excited and to hold on to the magic as long as we can. Before you know it you will be counting down the final days.
