Hello

My wife and I are planning a trip to Disney sometime soon. It is been a very long time since I was there, in fact, the last time I was there, Disney World was the only park. Now I know there is Epcot, MGM, and the Zoo park.

We are planning on staying onsite at a hotel just a few miles away in Kissimmee. Not sure which one yet, but I’m sure we’ll stay at one the monorail goes to. I am assuming that by now the whole monorail has been expanded to not just go to Disneyland, but to all the parks and hotels, am I right in that? Does the monorail go to Sea World? We may go there if we have time.

The only thing I really know about Epcot is the golf ball ride, is that good? I have seen commercials for the new mission to mars ride, was it just moved from Disneyworld to Epcot? A coworker told me about the fast track ride also, is that one good as well?

I don’t know anything about the Zoo though, so any comments would be appreciated.

I also am excited about the Men in Black ride at MGM, but that is only because I heard about it from my wife’s cousin, what else is at MGM?

We are planning on staying for 2 days, is that too long? Would we be able to see everything in two days?

Thanks in advance for the advice

To answer your questions and a bit more:

1. The "Zoo" park is named Animal Kingdom. If you have the time it is highly recommended! I won't go into details but here is the official AK site where you'll find more information!

2. Nice to know you're staying on-site! The Monorail DOES NOT visit all parks and resorts (Sea World isn't even a Disney park) only at a few. It does go through Epcot though!

3. The "golf ball" ride is named Spaceship Earth! I highly recommend this attraction! It is a nice, slow-pased attraction which is themed very well!:) Mission:SPACE is an intense simulator attraction which simulates in the most accurate way, the feeling of flying to outer space! Highly recommended! Test Track is a ride where you go through a variety of car "tests". Very fun! Not to miss!

4. The Men in Black ride is at Universal Orlando resort. (A new resort which opened a few years ago). It is quite a nice ride. Over at MGM there are many kinds of attractions! Indiana Jones Stunt Show, Muppet Vision 3D, The Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Rollercoaster, The Great Movie Ride and many more! Those are my top list!

5. 2 days? To be honest you won't see much. To see the "whole" resort you need at LEAST a week and a half. I have no solution for this problem. My best suggestion is that you visit the Magic Kingdom and Epcot! Those are the big Must-Sees!

I hope I helped a little!

First of all, welcome to the boards! I'm sure everyone will make you feel very welcome!

As far as your trip is concerned, the following are the parks at Walt Disney World (the name used for all the parks, hotels, etc collectively)

Magic Kingdom
EPCOT
MGM Studios
Animal Kingdom

The Disney water parks are :
Blizzard Beach
Typhoon Lagoon

In answer to your questions:

The monorail connects only The Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, and only about 5 of the hotels, being The Contempory, the Grand Floridian and a couple of others which I can't remember this second! The Monorail is also exclusive to WDW so so does not connect to other themeparks such as Univsersal Orlando or Seaworld, when staying on WDW property, these must be accessed by car, or taxi. (Univseral Orlando comprises of 2 themeparks, Univseral Studios and Islands of Adventure).

The best EPCOT rides include Mission:SPACE and Test Track for intense rides (though some say that Test Track isn't that intense). Other rides include Spaceship Earth (the golf ball) and Universe of Energy with Ellen's Energy Adventure amoungst many others. Also at EPCOT is world showcase which contains many different themes of countries such as the UK, Germany, Canada, the USA and many more. There is also a great fireworks show at EPCOT most evenings (Illuminations!).

The Magic Kingdom also shows a daytime and a night time parade most days as well as Wishes! a new nightime spectacualr firework show!

Animal Kingdom (or as you call it, the zoo!) is a combination of great rides and shows, and usually there is a daytime parade, Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade. Animal Kingdom or AK is definetly worth a visit, especially if you like animals, Kilomanjari Safaris is a fun way to see animals you love!

Sorry to disappoint you, but Men In Black Alien Attack is not at Disney MGM Studios, but at Universal Studios. However MGM still features great rides and shows such as Twilight zone Tower of Terror, Rock n' Roller Coaster and The Great Movie Ride being just a few. There is usually a daily parade here and usually a great nightime spectacular show, Fantasmic! which is definetely worth seeing!

You will definetely not be able to see everything in two days, the usual recommended visiting time is at least one day per park, including a fll day to visit parks such as SeaWorld, especially if visiting in high season.

Hope I helped, for more information on rides and attractions see the main page of this website http://www.wdwmagic.com where there is a full listing of all attractions at each themepark. For official information and park opening times, parades, shows information (to check whether they are showing on certain days) check out http://www.disneyworld.com .

For Universal Orlando information visit http://www.UniversalOrlando.com

For Seaworld information visit http://www.seaworld.com/seaworld/fla/default.aspx

Hope that helps!

I have a confession to make. The original post was intended to be somewhat of a joke, somewhat of a complaint. I've received many many useful tips and suggestions for the trips I've taken. I've probably saved many hours and several hundreds of dollars from the advice from these message boards. But the point I was trying to make is that people on here are just so sensitive about using the right terminology about anything Disney related. I had intended to say as many of the common incorrect things I could. For instance, referrring to the Magic Kingdom as Disney World. My parents do that, but who cares?!?! My mother calls Test Track the Fast Track...again, who cares?!?! There is no need to get all upset about it.

Anytime someone asks about the monorail expanding, everyone jumps all over them and says things like "banging my head against the wall" while responding.

I don't see why, message boards are intended to be a place to share knowledge, not be so picky over every detail. Everyone please lighten up.

I think the people that should be upset are the people above who took the time and helped you out with your "questions". If you are joking, can I suggest the use of a smily or a J/K. Then people will know you are "joking" and wont waste their time replying.

I couldn't agree more. I'm just glad I read all the way down before I replied as well.

I would have been a little ticked off too.

It was fine that the post was made, but at the same time I know I would have been really mad had I spent all of that time responding and it was for nothing at all.

I do try to tell people the correct terms when they are referring to Disney, then mix-ups are less likely to happen. Such as the Men In Black ride being at Studios. Some people may get VERY mad if the only ride they came down to FL for was the MIB ride and they were at the wrong park. I can't tell you how many times I corrected people on ride locations while I was working down there and even at the stores.

Sorry, I don't mean to sound harsh, but at the same time, it upsets me a bit. I'm just lucky I didn't waste my time responding to a fake post.

To the original post:
Took me ages to do my reply post and they way you wrote it seemed genuine. I'm not sensitive if people call things the wrong name, by simply correcting you I was just trying to help you find what you were looking for. Cheap joke, now try and find a real sense of humour.

Glad you confessed early, because I was about to try to give you lots of advice and recommendations from someone who has been 17 times now. Oh well, this just makes you one more person to add to the ignore list.

After reading the first post, I thought "you must be kidding" b/c of there being so MANY misconceptions, but then there was no...J/K or smilie or whatever.
Did you post that just to cause a controversy? Who are you telling to lighten up? The people that responded were very polite and informative. They thought they were helping you out. I'm just glad I read all the way down before I wasted my time answering all of your questions.

Firstly, welcome. Onsite hotels are those which are found within Walt Disney World - unfortunately WDW does not stretch as far as Kissimee !

"We are planning on staying for 2 days, is that too long? Would we be able to see everything in two days?"

In two days you will be lucky to do everything in MK, let alone the other three parks !! To "do" the parks anything like properly would probably involve 2 days at MK, 1 at MGM and 1 at EPCOT and possibly half a day to a day at AK. But, it all depends on what you want to see and do.

May I suggest visiting your local bookshop and purchasing a guide book ( "The Unofficial Guide" is a good choice ). Then read through each section deciding on what you want to do and plan your length of stay accordingly.

Hope this helps - feel free to ask any more questions.

A fine example of why you should read the thread or at least part of it before replying.

I hope it bl**dy well rains all the time that you're there

In future, don't waste the time of those of us who are only too willing to share our knowlefge or advice with such a dumb trick. In fact, disappear from these boards completely until you have something sensible to contribute.

A great many people, myself included, go to these boards for useful advice and information while planning future trips to the parks. That information is worthless if it is not accurate.

If you seriously ask for advice on this board, you will get serious advice.

All of the advice that was given before the post about it being fake was all good, solid Disney advice.

I just hope this false post doesn't scare away any new members!
