Planning first solo trip ever

So long story short, its been a while since I've been on a vacation, the past couple years have been trying to say the least and I need to get away from things for a bit.

I have been to Disney many times over the past 25 years, I think the actual count is close to 15 trips but either with a significant other or family and this will be the first time just for me.

I was thinking about the first week in October, mainly I want to be in the World for Epcot's 30th, yes I know there isn't anything official planned, but we share a birth year and I was there for the 25th.

So to get the point anyone have any good advice for an experienced Disney traveler but one who has never traveled alone?

I havent travelled completely on my own but sometimes when i have been with others i have gone off and done my own thing! it was awesome taking pictures and just people watching i sat for about an hour in epcot just watching the world go by! If you want pictures with yourself in use photopass or just ask someone to take it for you! Its much easier to get dinning reservations and most of the rides have single rider q's to! and the best thing is you can do it all at your own pace to!

I am also taking my first solo trip, but in the end of September and I couldn't be more excited. I haven't been to wdw in 4 years so its a long over due trip for me. All the advice I have gotten from others who have done disney solo are great and nothing but positive. I think you will really enjoy doing things when you want and not having to worry about what others want to do or not do.

I've travel solo in 2010 and it was my first trip to Disney World as an adult. I would do it again anytime! Like you said it, being able to do what you want, when you want it is so great. I never felt lonely, I talked to a lot of people from around the world, I met people sitting on the plane next to me who where staying at my resort. And it's a small world after all because we kept bumping into each other the intire week, and often met at the resort pool in the afternoon and talked about our day. I'm sure you will have a great trip! :)

I have done several trips alone. The only time I am uncomfortable is when they put me in the middle of the dining room at a restaurant where some people will stare at you the entire meal. I always request being put somewhere off to the side. Other than that I meet a lot of new people and have an awesome time. I also find that the cms will talk to you more as well.

I am extremely introverted so if I can do it anyone can do it.

Hi Blue!! Good for you!!! I do solo trips a lot and always find I have a great time. You are also picking a GREAT time to visit as you can absolutely sign up for Food & Wine festival special events such as wine pairing classes, food classes etc. This year is also EPCOT's 30th anniversary and there are going to be a few events, all fan based that I am sure will be taking place. These are great as you can join in with Disney fans for events as you want and go off on your own for some you time!!! Best of all worlds, I think!!!! It was be just great. Please feel free to ask any questions that I can help with. Have a great night! Marie

To to a restaurant and the movies at home...by yourself.

I traveled so much for work that traveling alone never seemed like a big whup. It's how I first got to Disney, too! My first trip was solo. :)

It is different at WDW for two reasons...for me, anyway. The first is standing in lines. It is boring! When you're with someone, you can at least talk about how boring the line is. Everyone else has someone to talk to. Weird, but not a big deal.

Second is restaurants. Traveling as much as I did, I've eaten alone a lot and am not uncomfortable. But at Disney every table is full. And they're all full of people chatting. I notice the noise more and feel more alone there. I didn't care much - there is plenty to see, but if it were your first solo meal, it might be odd. I don't know.

Just make sure todo what you want. Sleep in. Spend an hour in a store. Ride HM three times. Whatever. Just follow your bliss. :)

I went alone for the first time a few weeks ago. Well, it was kind of alone. My husband was there for a business trip so I saw him at night and we did end up having one day together that we spent at Epcot. Mostly I was on my own. I was a little bit nervous at first but ending up absolutely loving it! I'm a big photography freak so I spent hours just wandering and taking pictures, something I could never do when my kids were along. I can't say I rode a lot of rides but I did manage to ride all of my favorites. I was mostly worried about dining but they seated me in a quiet corner most times which was perfect for me. I never had so much freedom to do what I wanted! It was soooo relaxing. The only time I didn't like it was standing in line. Mostly the rides I went on had little or no wait but it seemed liked everyone overlooked me. When they would ask how many were in my party they always assumed I was with the people behind or in front of me and would at times not get me in the ride queue because they miscounted. I had to learn to speak up or the people behind me went right through without any thought to me. Other than that I had an awesome time and would love to go back alone. I think I had the best of both worlds with my husband back at the hotel. I don't know if I would like being in a hotel room by myself but I know that I had a great time by myself in the parks.

I've done some business travel by myself so being alone in the room doesn't bother me, I don't really see dining being an issue I'm a quick service type of guy and don't really go to the sit down places unless I'm with someone who wants to so I don't really see that being issue.

Thanks for all the advice guys makes me feel better about all of this especially with the e-mail discounts I got during the week.
