I am a planner, But ive gotta say, even this is driving me a bit crazy. Mostly it's the making dinner reservations part. Planning out when parks are open late and when they're open early and when we will be where. I believe i have made and cancelled reservations a minimum of 5 times. Am i alone in this madness?

I absolutely love the planning part of going to WDW. I create a spreadsheet with the park times including noting EMH and then once I have that done move onto making ADRs that fit into which park we'll be at on which day (note this is because we usually don't do park hopper - I'm not that bad when it comes to planning). Creating the list of park times has made it so I no longer make and cancel ADRs but I was there once. I'm kind of a sick person though in that I love the madness of doing it all.

Nope. Many of my clients use to be like this. Now they let me deal with all the headaches.:)

I pretty much do the same thing. We pick a few must do restaurants and get them on the spreadsheet first, then we fill in the rest of our ADRs depending on what park we plan to be at.

I'm a secretary, so I'm practically paid for my OCD-like ability to keep a schedule :p

When planning a trip, I always look at the opening hours for each park during our stay and plan our ADR's taking in consideration EMH, parades and fireworks. I put all of that in a spreadsheet, along with names of restaurants and events we want to go to. I make some "rough" ADR's at first when I can't exactly get the time/place I initially want and then I look them up each day to see if there are any openings for what we really wanted at first. So far, I've managed to "tweak" about 5 ADR's, changing their timeslot to better accomodate our plans.

I think it's part of the fun of planing a WDW vacation :)

Im not OCD but absolutley love planning the trip...adrs...(Im a Technology Planner) I can see where doing this the first couple times can be overwhelming exspecially if its a week or two trip. Jus thave fun with it..I generally see if there is one or two signature dining events that are a must (see my numerous Yachtsman Steakhouse plugs) and build my schedule around those..the rest are plug and play...relax and enjoy the moment

I do have OCD and planning gives me the "warm and fuzzy" calm feeling. :) However that OCD goes away once I'm in the parks and enjoy myself.

Also, Master Yoda does assist in handling OCD (very well I might add) and relieving some of it!

My wife and I first decide on a park schedule for each day. We then add in restaurant selections from there. Once we have a tentative plan, I put everything into a nice document for my wife to reference because she will ask 'where are we that day?' a million times. That doc goes on the refrigerator.

When the plans are final (3 weeks out), I enter all of the information (confirmation numbers, dinner times, park hours, etc.) into my work calendar which pulls into my iPhone. I also load all travel docs, Disney secrets, must do lists, etc into cloud storage (box.net) so I can access all of that from my iPad/iPhone.

10 days, 19 hours, 35 minutes, 57 seconds (July)
182 days, 5 hours, 34 minutes, 32 seconds (December)

You are definitely not alone. I have had my reservations since April 20th and am not going until Sept. 24. I have changed, cancelled and been on every website possible since them. Sometimes even second guessing my plans. Someone once told me, "just make your plans and stick with them". That's what I'm doing for now. There is 1 more ADR that I keep trying to make but there are no available times so I just go on every day, sometimes twice a day and check for an availability. I do love the planning but it does drive you crazy too. Good Luck with it all.

All I did was give my *wish list* ADRs to my travel agent Jessica, at Kingdom Konsultants, and she took care of it for me!! She was able to get all of them for me too!

I'm slightly OCD, and I get a sick thrill from the various details that I must deal with. I submit to you, Sir, that you are not truly OCD. You're just someone with a headache.

Jessica is great, I agree, but I wouldn't dream of relinquishing complete control of my Disney vacation to KK! :D I also agree here with rsoxguy (as I aften do) that you're not really OCD unless you enjoy the mind-boggling details of planning a Disney vacation rather than have them give you a headache! LOL

Relinquish control? I didn't feel that way at all :) Jessica made it so EASY this vacation!! Now I can focus my thoughts on special experiences for my family then, get the inside scoop from my travel agent!! It has been a breeze this year!! (We go just about every year) Being married to a not-so-crazy-about-Disney man, Jessica helped me with sooooo many suggestions, that I bet, this year, he will be hooked!!!! I have to admit, once ADRs are made (and Jessica took care of that for me) the rest, was so easy to plan. I don't look at it as relinquishing control, I look at it as adding to the magic!!!! (insert dancing smiley here)

Actually our clients have the choice of doing their own dining reservations or they can send us a list of what they want and we sit and go over the EMH and park hours, etc to help them make the most of their time in the parks. Our clients are always in control, we just give those that need it a little helping hand.:D
