Planning a trip, have a question about MyMagic+

First off, wasn't sure if it belonged here or if I should have asked in the rumors section. Sorry if it's in the wrong area.

(TL: DR at bottom)

My family is going down to WDW in early June. To my understanding, MyMagic+ will be in full effect by then. Our planning experience is a little different than the norm and am wondering (based on the information you all have heard), how it will affect us.

My family will be booking several rooms on Disney property, but our tickets will be not be purchased through Disney directly. My father has an active military I.D. He will receive a discount on the rooms and packages through Disney itself, but they do not offer the discounted tickets that way. We must pick them up at Shades of Green or at a military base.

The FAQ on WDWMagic.com has it listed as guest staying at WDW resorts will receive the MyMagic+ bands and those staying off property will receive RFID enabled tickets. It states that people whom are not staying on property will be able to purchase a band (or I'm assuming the "upgraded" vanity bands). I'm wondering if anyone knows if we will be able to be grandfathered into bands, or will we have to pay for them? Due to my family having small children traveling with us, it would be beneficial to have the bands.

Ultimately, the out come is the same. We will get in, have a blast and probably spend way too much money. But the convenience of the bands that are attached and not having to dig through pockets/purses for tickets is well worth working on getting before we check in. Do you have any suggestions or ideas on how to make sure, that when we check in, we have bands waiting for us at the front desk?

Thank you

TL: DR - Staying on property, buying tickets at military base. How hard to get a MyMagic+ band arangements before arriving and how.

I am booked the same way. I was told that the military tickets can't be added onto the bands. I am on the dining plan. I wonder if we will get this for dining and purchases. When I call to upgrade our dining I am going to ask again since the operator had to put me on hold to find out the answer.

I have been getting the run around about Military Tickets as well. I have been trying to figure out if Military Tickets can be used instead of Magic Your Way tickets for a package and I haven't felt that the Disney Operators I have spoken to are really on top of it. If anyone knows conclusively that would be great.

I booked a room at discount and added a dining plan. I have to buy the military tickets separately. Our vacation is during the military room discount period that they are offering. We are going in September. It was a really nice discount on the room but we paid regular price for dining. I can't complain because we are paying less for a deluxe resort with three people than I did for myself and daughter at moderate.

I don't think they have it all figured out yet. That's why you aren't getting good answers. I am an AP holder and their still trying to figure out how they are going to handle them.

The reality is that no one knows for sure yet. The bottom line is if you all of you are staying on property there should be a free way to access MyMagic +. Whether that is via an RFID ticket, room key a wrist band or a combination of the 3.

Simply put - Disney hasn't released this information yet.

Presumably Disney will have a way you will prove you have a ticket, and then be able to use MyMagic+ - but they have not revealed this yet. Worst case, is you'll have to find a way to buy your tickets before you get onsite (goto your MWR office).

It is unclear if room-only reservations will get free bands or have to upgrade or what.

This is just information Disney has not rolled out yet. Nor do we fully know how far the system will be rolled out by what dates.

You just have to hold on it seems.

We are booked to go to Orlando in October. We are not staying on site, but have a 14 day uk ultimate Disney ticket. As soon as I found out abut my magic +, I called the official Disney line for more information , for example does it affect me, will I still be able to get fast pass tickets etc. The operator had never heard of mymagic + !
So it looks like its all in the very early stages, with dates, and additional information yet to be released. Even if you are an onsite or day guest.
