Planes Characters added to DCA's Soarin Pre Show...Is Epcot Next?

Soarin' is at an air force base in California. Unless they have hang gliders at the military base, I think this is fine. As for Epcot, aside for it having nothing to do with The Land Pavilion at all, the attraction is themed to an airport. So, I think air planes are just fine in the queue video. Yes, Soarin' is a hang glider simulator, but it has always been themed to airplanes. I'm not saying it's perfect theming to begin with, but since it has always been that way, we're not loosing anything here by adding in Dusty and friends.

Kinda off topic, but had we still had Dreamflight around today, you can be it would have been changed into a Planes dark ride.....back on topic, theres been no sign that they plan on implementing this at Epcot, once again they have kinda missed timing opportunity. The nightmare that is Soarins queue could use something though on those big screens other than silly games, I would much rather watch planes do something. And I would take planes in Soarin over what they did to walts plane at the studios.

I would think Epcot will add this as well because Planes 2 has been confirmed for next year and a possible 3rd. Disney has no loss adding the video in Epcot at this time

I've ridden Soarin' numerous times but I don't think I've ever waited in the standby queue. Still, even when you bypass that line and get to the "split" and start heading down the ramps to one of the theaters it's pretty bland. I don't know why they don't have more props or screens to look at, etc.

As for the Planes characters, I'd rather they weren't there but at long as Patrick's still there I'll live.

No, but Brock Sampson is there.

Or Joe Swanson..

How about David Puddy?

Nope. He's the Tick.

I liked the movie Planes, and I'm not offended by all the synergistic use of characters and the like, but this I don't like at all. Soarin' is a "real life" attraction, not an animated story. "Planes" is a world where people don't exist. Mixing them is...just off. Granted, it's in the pre-show, so it's not going to "ruin" the attraction or anything like that, but I really don't like it.

I can agree with this. Doesn't "ruin" anything and it's definitely not the end of the world, but it does seem like a poor fit with the mixing of real world and animation.

I reckon that this will be a short-lived experiment. It is being tried out at Disneyland after all. The fanbase there won't let it overstay it's welcome. If it started at Epcot then I would be worried.

You are soaring over The Land. The California version doesn't really fit but the next update should fix that unfortunately the fact that they are shoehorning the "World" version into DCA makes it an awkward theme over there.

Why is Flight Attendant Patrick still in SD and not HD?

It is the attraction with the most demand in all of WDW and they still cannot be bothered to go HD with it?

The'll probably remove it or change it when the rumored new film and land retheming happens.
