Plane Ticket Deals

I looked in past threads and couldn't find this topic. My question is, what is the best time to start looking for plane tickets to WDW. My honeymoon to WDW is going to be next year on the first weekend of Sept. I am departing from Oregon. Are the best flight deals released now (a year ahead) or a few months before Sept? What do you usually do to get the best plane deals? Thanks!
Just a humerous thought: Isn't it funny how my bride and I keep cutting back marriage expenses so that we can spend more of it at WDW. I feel like a corporate tool...At least it is worth it.

In my experience, most airlines won't let you even book until a couple months before your trip.

Right now Southwest.com is "currently accepting reservations through Oct. 28, 2005"

So you might want to wait until next summer... :(

If they run the same promotion next year as they are now, you can get some SWEET airfare!

GOOD LUCK!

From what I've seen, you can book flights up to 330 days in advance. My advice is this: Pretend you're going this year and try to find the best deal for the equivalent week. Check the prices for different combinations of arrival/departure days. Do this every week for the next several weeks. Note the best days of the week to travel, the airlines with the lowest prices, and the actual fares.

Once November 1st hits, check the flights for your actual dates every couple of weeks. When the prices reach the lowest prices you could find for this year's flights, book them.

I'm not sure how flexible your travels dates are, but I have had great luck on yahoo travel. When entering your flight info, instead of entering exact dates, you can click that your dates are flexible. This allows you to search a range of dates from Sept-Oct (for example), and displays the best price available from a wide range of airlines. Of course this process can be quite frustrating (dates are sometimes unavailble), but it's worth a shot. Last year I was travelling to London and found extremely cheap flights (but perhaps my dates were a bit more flexiable than yours). I also find that booking over a year ahead won't give you the best price (but who knows) booking airline travel is like game!!! Good Luck!!!

Try itasoftware.com for low fares. They have a low fare search engine that will return the lowest fares out there. Although I don't think they list Southwest. You can't book on there site but they give you all the info you need when contacting the airline... :D

I always do the flexible dates searches at travelocity.com. I always get the lowest airfare this way.

Also try going to the airlines websites (like delta.com)

Keep checking as well.

Two weeks ago, RT airfare from Houston to Orlando the second week of September was $302 per person. Last Thursday, the price had dropped to $172.
