Pizza

Had the pizza at Pizzafari...not bad. Enjoyed my salad more. Pizza Planet...wouldn't go there again.
I find that its hard to get a "good" pizza while travelling because we are all used to the pizzas we get at our favorite places at home. I like a nice crisp, thin crust and thats hard to get. We'll have to give some of the places mentioned a try on our next trip. Pizza is the one food we will all eat without an argument.

I don't know where all you are from, but coming from Chicago and having a ton of great pizza places, in my opinion, there is nothing that even comes CLOSE to a decent pizza at Walt Disney World.

I Love good pizza and have tried several pizzas at Disney World and none of them can remotely compare to a good Chicago pizza.

I finnally gave up trying to find good Pizza and have resigned myself to the fact that I have to wait to get home to have a great pizza.

and don't EVEN get me started on hot dogs....

Prior to 2000 I believe, I could swear that the pizza at all WDW eateries was different. They used to be quite tasty (nothing like boardwalk pizza though). Then one year I couldn't even eat the pizza when we ordered it. They look plastic-esque with the cheese, and the tomatoes are hidden below the cheese, and used sparingly.

They took something that used t be delectible and made it worse to our family. Maybe I'm nuts tho, but I can't eat Disneypizza anymore.

That is why we go to Tubbi's at the Dolphin, open 24 hours. Theymake a very good pizza, considering they are in Orlando and don't really know how to mak eone, haha. But its good, thinc crust, crunchy, and reminiscent of a "tomato pie," what pizzas are still referred to around me at the beach and boardwalk.

You said what I was thinking (but really didn't want to say :D )

I'm from NY and we like our pizza differently than other places.
(my only exposure to Chigago style pizza is UNO's...:slurp: )

Luckily I live in a town (small by some standards) thats has 5 indie pizzarias plus Domino's ( :hurl: ) and a PizzaHut (ok).
My favorite is still the one we make at home. :D

Yea guys...Electric Umbrella is NO LONGER serving pizza. They replaced it with sandwiches. And even though this is kinda off topic, but you can no longer get bacon on your cheeseburger at alot of places around WDW now...

But anyways...My vote does NOT go to Rosie's. They have the worst pizza ever. They use NO sauce, just chunks of tomatoes, and, to me, thats nasty.

Same with Wolfgang. It seems like they fry their pizzas. Everything I have ever eaten there has been burnt and crispy.

The Rainforest though has some good pizza (the only good thing in there). It's an appitizer though, and it's like white pizza, with some junk on top, and a really thin crust.

But other than that, the pizza's in the parks are pretty much the same. I had a pizza at Pop Century when I stayed there, and that was really good. No different then Pizza's anywhere else, but it was just GOOD!

I really like the pizzas form the Pizza Planet
I went there twice on my last visit :lookaroun

Yes Wolfgang pucks pizza is great. It is a thin crust that is wood fired and crisp. Depending on who is manning the oven it can even be a little smoky. Really great. But if you are not an Adult pizza person it is tough. The Cheese is good but beware the Margarita pizza it is one of those tomato cheese and basil ones.

As far as the pizza being like Chicago or NY it is tough. There is a Pizzeria Uno's over in the Crossroads Shopping Center by the Gooding's grocery and Red Lobster. NY style is tougher I guess the closest would be the large resort pizzas at like POr All-Star etc. I really haven't eaten traditional NY pizza I guess the closest would be Sabaro's and I bet that isn't even close. Coming from St. Louis I cannot say that I go somewhere looking for StL style pizza. You have to like the cheese that the people here (not my family) think has to be on it. The cheese is called Provel. It is a mozzarella looking cheese that melts more like sliced Velveeta. It forms like a skin that sticks to the roof of your mouth:hurl: . Enough about that.

I know what you mean about the hot dogs. Especially if you like Chicago Style dogs like my mom. There isn't any place. But if you like to build your own dog Casey's is my ONLY suggestion for hot dogs period.

It was on the food tv on the show unwrapped. It was a special WDW unwrapped. They showed the pizza making machine that Disney invented that makes the Generic little saucers that they call quick pizza. It can be so so to pretty good depending on how they bake it. The machine was pretty cool though it sent the pre baked crusts through and they squirted the sauce and then sprinkled the cheese and then it flopped down the four pieces of pepperoni.

Sorry Rob...
never ever had a guest issue over that, how long ago was that?????

And Pizzafari is much different than Pizza Planet, it is not all generic from park to park.

My favourite pizza is at the Plaza Pavilion in Tomorrowland.. but that place has such limited operating hours. It seems as though it's going the way of the Adventureland Veranda. Next would be Pizzafari at the AK (great breadsticks, too!). Tubbi's Buffeteria at the Dolphin (Swan?) also has pizza that is different than the normal on-property pizza. Riverside used to have different pizza as well, but I'm remembering this from when it was Dixie Landings, so I'm sure it has changed since then.

I LOVE pizza.

But, I must say, with regrets, that I haven't actually had a pizza I would consider good while staying at Walt Disney World-- and this is saying a lot because I normally love the WDW fast food items. They just don't do pizza well. I guess the closest thing I could liken their pizza to is that ordering a pizza from WDW is much like ordering crawfish in Jackson Mississippi -- they are close enough to Louisiana to have it and know what it is, but not that skilled in making it good.

WDW Pizzas -- I haven't liked any of them. I almost liked Port Orleans pizza though, almost.

If you really like pizza, I doubt you will be impressed be WDW pizzas.

Oh yeah, also Orlando in general has some of the WORST pizza places. If you get a pizza ad slipped under your door while staying off site, it's a good bet to stay AWAY from that pizza.

Ask the concierge of your hotel for a good pizza place.

I looked up Provel Cheese,it actually sounds interesting, but not for pizza, maybe a grilled cheese sandwich...Velveeta is the best for that.
**side note** Velveeta, a blend of Colby & Swiss cheeses was invented here in my litttle town in 1928! We celebrate it every year in September. :D **

SBARRO pizza is pretty good...a nice thin, crisp crust. :sohappy:

Every year the first thing my family and I do when we get on property is head to Dixie Landings (Riverside) and get a pizza there, which is always delicious.

Although... there was nothing better than the pizza nachos at the animal kingdom... which, unfortunately, aren't there anymore! :(

I know they served it over summer for sure. I used to get it sometimes when I was waiting for MS to open for a preview:D
