Pixar for Boys

I have been a big supporter of Pixar and I am thrilled that Disney and Pixar are still together. I was also happy to hear about John Lasseter’s promotion to the Disney animation. I love all of the Pixar movies and I am really looking forward to Ratatouille. The thing I realized the other day was that Pixar’s movies are mainly boy based. Having two boys I never really thought about it, but now my little girls is getting into movies and I realized that there really isn’t a girl themed movie from Pixar. Again, I love them but someone needs to remind John and Co. that there are little girls out there looking for a new Princess and I know that if Pixar puts their collective head around it they can come up with a great movie. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

Well, maybe. But there are prominent female characters: Adda from A Bug's Life, Dory, Little Bo Peep and Jesse from Toy Story, Violet and Elastagirl from The Incredibles...and so on.

If you want to see a Princess computer animated film, Disney (without Pixar) is coming out with Repunsell in 2008, and I believe the new Tinkerbell movie will be computer animated as well. Hope that helps!:)

Hm, can't say I agree completely. I find that PIXAR is family based, rather than gender based. I'd say the reason one could consider it skewed toward boys is due to the fact that a girl will still find appeal in A Bug's Life or Toy Story, but most boys would not do the same to, say, Fairyland Adventure in the Sugar-Coated Forest. And yes, girls are also icky.
