Eisner's gotta go. Now.

He knows nothing about the diplomacy of business, and knows too much about the green.

It's sad...

...but good for Pixar. I'm happy for them.

REMOVE THE DISNEY CEO.

NOW.

And, so far as I know, I'm never going to enjoy a "Disney" film in theaters. Until further notice. Pixar has my seat.

This Pixar deal was the most important thing for Disney to get done, and now it looks like it won't happen. Eisner probably wanted too much money and Pixar made the movies and deserves their fair share.

This has to be the last straw for Eisner and Co. This will have such a negative impact on the company. It's time for Jobs to become CEO of Disney and keep the Pixar/Disney relationship alive.

They close their animation studios in FL and now Pixar has ceased talks for renewing its deal with Disney. I agree w/ Grizz, this is a good thing for Pixar but not so good for Disney. Wonder what the stockholders will think of this one? Will they jump on Roy's bandwagon? Let's hope.

This is beyond disturbing. No 2D animation, no 3D animation. What's left? Puppets?

Disney without animation? It's like a car without an engine.

Yeah grizz its all the rave nowadays...Eisner seems to be putting the cart before the horse left and right...its smart business...:animwink:

Lets hope he is ousted before things get too bad.

Once again, Eisner shows that he's too cheap to spend the money for good talent. Hey, but you know who is? Dreamworks, or another studio who can see the larger picture.
Sometimes things have to get a whole lot worse before they get better. I told my boyfriend that this would be the straw that broke the Eisner camel's back
Could the timing have been worse??? I think we know whose side Steve Jobs and John Lasseter are on. I wonder if they broke off the talks now, before the shareholders meeting---think about it, they could hold out long enough until a new CEO with fresh thinking comes in and realizes what they need to do to keep Pixar. Hmmm...Just a far out business hypothesis.
I admit, I'm excited for the day that Eisner leaves, but I hope that they find a great replacement.

This is without a doubt the stupidest thing that the Disney Company has done in nearly 20 years. Disney should have given up whatever Pixar wanted even if it meant a smaller piece of the pie, what Disney forgets is Pixar delivers a pretty big pie AND according to rumors Pixar was in the midst of developing its own 2d department. The only hope for Disney animation now is that their half cooked theory of having all the animators in Burbank works. As for Pixar, they have said themselves their not really ready to go off on their own yet so who will they join hmm if they join Dreamworks Katzenberg could possibly take over Disney in the public eye just imagine it Dreamworks feature animation, PDI, and Pixar just imagine it.

Disney also has the right to finance and produce sequels if Pixar declines to co-finance and produce them under the current agreement.

UH-OH!!!

"Hang on lads, we've run out of films to make Cheap-quels to with our own library. Lets use these nice new spangley computers Eisner gave us to make Pixar cheap-quels."

Toy Story 6 1/4 anyone?

I was less upset than many when Disney announced discontinuation of their 2D efforts, because, in my mind, Pixar had become what Disney once was: The creator of spectacular, relatively rare "event" projects.

Shrek was great, but it wasn't the same as Pixar, and it seemed there was room for such work (similar to how Warner Brothers animation had a unique role, but never really challenged Disney's dominance)

There's no question in mind (and some people may argue this detail ) the best animated films of the past decade have come from Pixar.

I'm sure Disney is buying computers as I type this, but they're going to be playing catch-up.

For the first time since "Steamboat Willie" Disney is no longer the undisputed king of animation. Think about that a minute.

I've been a bit on the fence regarding Eisner, but if he allows Pixar to get away, he will have done irreparable harm to the company.

Could that possibley be intentional? Could he, realizing his days are numbered, possibley sabatoge the future of the company so that his replacement won't be able to oushine him?

It seems a bit far-fetched, but I'm honestly beginning to wonder.

Done.

Eisner believes he can save money by producing cheap sequels, degrading the 2-D animation name, and force the company to go strictly into 3-D production.

Thus, while saving money with the Pixar deal (for short-term, per-quarter profits - because you KNOW once Eisner gets 3-D going, he will mass produce until 3-D animation becomes a standard that film-goers will eventually find "less special," and eventually all 3-D film companies will lose out.

Unless Eisner's butt gets kicked out and replaced with new management, Disney is headed to h*ll because of one man's greed. And board.

Keep Pixar. Reduce 2-D animation sequels. Then, create a massive 2-D film per year - or perhaps every 2 years.

I mean, even with 3-D, it looks like Disney may even be doing three its year after Chicken Little: Rapunzel (Princes Fiona? Whatever happened to the classics. . ), Wilbur Robinson, Fraidy Cat?, Gnomeo and Juliet? Something tells me the last two were cancelled.

Oh, yeah, and Dumbo II was cancelled.

Wow...in my searches, I found Santa Clause 3 coming in 2005. :hurl: Same thing goes for Live Action, I guess. . .

<- does that 3-D look good? Apparently, it's for Mickey's TWICE upon a Christmas.

Current 2-D projects:

2005:
The Emperor's New Groove II
Tarzan II
Lilo & Stitch II
The Heffalump Movie

2006:
Bambi and the Great Prince
Mickey's Around the World in 80 Days

2007:
Cinderella III

2008:
The Jungle Book 3
Peter Pan 3
The Little Mermaid III

Not to mention...
Pirates of the Caribbean 3
The Lady of the Lake
The Emperor and the Nightingale
Antonius
Don Quixote
The Search for Mickey
Sleeping Beauty 2
Hercules II: The Trojan War
Pete's Dragon II
Oliver & Company II
Mulan III

...and a Snow White II is also in the works.

BYE, EISNER.

Want to know ONE reason why Lion King was so successful? The most successful 2-D animation, no?

Because between Aladdin and Lion King, there was not a theatrical release. That's two years for the public to rest, then hit a bang, and get in the profits.

Fastforward to today - Disney looks like it will producing more low-quality crap every DAY.
