MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

RoA image just doesn't make any sense to me....it would make sense, if there's an image at all, of what they were making. They've had an image of "what's coming soon" in front of the construction site, since at least the '60's (can think of many examples).
There will probably be art of the coming attraction on the solid wood construction walls in other sections. The printed fabric scrims generally use photographs of whatever is being refurbished. It's being replaced instead of refurbished, but they obviously only have photos of the thing that existed before, not the thing that hasn't been built yet.

If they made the scrim to show RoA its simply stupid!

I would not be surprised if they do that as maybe they already have the scrim backstage because the original intention was to do normal maintenance on RoA before they decided to destroy and replace RoA?

I understood all of that for decades, but I still don't understand why Disney would portray something that they just closed and will never be coming back. That would be like them, in 1999, putting a scrim around what would become Mission Space .... but that scrim had the photo of Horizons on it. This would be a first. Every other time when people saw the decorative scrims based on photos, they would anticipate that what would ultimately be revealed behind the scrim would at least an approximation of what's portrayed on that scrim (every case I can think of is refurbishment, not new construction). Disney wants us to forget about RoA, not get us more upset that they closed it.

...all the other times they did normal maintenance (last time in 2020 if not mistaken?) they left the view completely unobstructed for all to see. No scrims, walls or rolling bushes lol.

It's a rumor someone supposedly overheard. It's very possible it won't even happen.

Again, why would anyone get more upset because of a scrim? Get upset over what's being done, but maybe think about not taking a temporary sightline blocker as a personal affront.

I understood it's just a rumor. And I've been upset about what's being done. My affront would be, if the rumor proved true, the absurdity, again in my opinion, of Disney using an image of something that won't be there when the scrim came down. For example, the scrims they use for the Main Street refurbs. Sometimes the refurb ends up not being exaxtly what was there before...what was on the scrim....but it's pretty darn close. Im sticking to my Horizons analogy. I'm letting this go now, regardless if/what you say from here.

I doubt they will make scrims... there is no reason for the walls to be higher than like 8 to 10 feet. Since I think we all assume these walls will be up for 2-5 years, I wish they would theme them to the area they are in. Give us some artwork or themed posters as something to look at.

HM queue could have portraits of the gracy family. Liberty square could have town cryer posters regarding the revolution... ect

People are allowed to react the way they want? 🤷🏻‍♀️ This is a discussion forum and that’s what we’re doing, discussing topics we feel something about otherwise we wouldn’t be here.

Individuals are allowed to react however they want, but the suggestion was that Disney should know better and that this would be an obviously insulting or provocative choice for the scrim. It’s not; such a reaction would not be typical.

I hear you, but Disney has made a lot of questionable choices as of late, like the move with RoA. Their credibility isn’t what it used to be. It’s not surprising that people are skeptical as it seems anything goes these days.

Thank you very kindly @FigaroTheCat . I simply gave my opinion (based on facts) thru the common phrase, "insult to injury." If you look at most of my posts that contain a whiff of an opinion on anything its tempered by phrases such as "seem" or "in my opinion"... sometimes even explicit, proactive apologies towards those who disagree with my opinions. I admit my participation to forums is mostly from the last few months, but my impression was that opinions, ideas, proposals, projections, conjectures, etc were allowed/welcomed here. What @James Alucobond just stated was his opinion. It seems some people's opinions can include efforts to project conclusions onto the opinions of others? Out of respect for everyone's opinion, I would never use phrases like, "obviously." Btw...I thought this was the avenue to discuss "RUMORS" as indicated below:

I used "obviously" twice, once to qualify that they clearly don't have photos of the yet-to-be-built project (which they verifiably do not) and once to say that it is not as overtly an insult-to-injury situation as I felt you initially suggested (which I suppose you agree with since you affirm that it was an opinion and not necessarily intentional provocation on Disney's part).

My own opinion is that people would be better off not compounding their personal angst over this project by trying to attribute every little thing happening around the construction to malice or insensitivity. You can take that or leave it, and you can feel however you want; however, I'll certainly call out what I see as a flawed premise for reactions that seem unreasonable or lacking in proportionality.

I had finished typing five specific counter-arguments to defend myself from your post, when I was convinced by someone to "let it go."
