MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

I'm amazing how often people think a billion dollar company "missed" something routine. They didn't "miss" shade in toy story land, they decided it wasn't worth the budget. They didn't "miss" the fact that it rains in FL in September in a construction timeline.

Did they miss on Rocket rods and the Yeti? You mean the 1 of a kind, customized, prototype technology that had never been done before? Yeah they miss on stuff like that sometimes.
Ever since they announced "Frotireland" was replacing RoA I concluded they were going to close RoA after New Years' Day 2026. Not only because, historically, most temporary (for refurbs) and permanent closures happen right after the Christmas/New Years rush, but because January is our "dry season." That's why closing it right after Independence Day left me perplexed.

Wait, now hold on. This is "just speculation" when the guy kept saying it was the end goal until he passed but him needing the ROA or other various attractions that he had no part in actually making for WDW were ironclad?
I think RoA is a known, documented attraction invented by Walt himself?

I guess we can now speculate if Walt would have been OK if MK's RoA is destroyed.

We can speculate all we want. Today's Disney company has already made the decision.

They do "miss" routine things too, so it's not out of the question to suggest it. For example, they missed figuring out proper drainage outside the new Madame Leota gift shop in Disneyland last year and when rainwater flowed into the store they had to hastily put construction walls up again, dig out the concrete and add (ugly) drains.

Its too bad the third party contractors miss stuff and its too bad Disney does not correct them.

As @MisterPenguin says, lets hope this does not happen with all these new projects happening all over WDW.

Its too bad there isn't someone from Disney inspecting the third party doing the work AS they are doing it. I am only guessing, its easier to correct something AS its being done.

They missed the mess of utilities behind Main Street, USA and had to cancel the Main Street Theater. Something similar seems to have happened with the Monsters Inc coaster. They miss plenty and it’s often because they are so big.

The way people here love to think they know more about construction than the actual construction companies handling these jobs is always so funny to me
Go visit some job sites. Contractors making questionable decisions isn’t a completely baseless stereotype. They also don’t make the design decisions.

Some pretty big issues do get missed though.

The worst recent issue was rise of the resistance which probably cost the company a good amount of money cause opening with only the falcon was not impressive. Of course if they hadn’t cut entertainment as well…..
Sometimes missing things is not the same as suggesting there is no oversight, routine inspection, or correction of contract work on Disney’s end.

I didn’t say things don’t get missed. I just gave some examples. I know of plenty more. The lie is the claims that nobody is checking work and trying to correct issues. There’s a reason architects and engineers are described as ”practicing” and it’s because nobody is perfect, and so there are no perfect designs or documents.

Who knows? Maybe all the third party contractors will do a great job, and Disney will do a great job with oversight, there wont be too much scope cut and in 3 to 5 years when cars land opens and a few years later when Villains land opens, all will be great! I am hoping for adequate shade in these lands myself.

For now all we can do is wait and hope.

However this is not a Disney issue, there a 'misses' on almost every project. Most are minor and can be corrected during construction. But, I have seen some pretty bad ones over the years, and nobody caught them despite multiple reviews by respected design firms and multiple municipal agencies.

To this day I am legitimately shocked by stories about Walt that are widely believed. I actually had to explain to a friend once that Der Fuhrers Face was a satire piece meant to be a morale booster for the Allies. Not Donald Duck being a propaganda mascot for the axis.
No one ever went wrong underestimating the intelligence of the general public. 🥴
I'm just here for the construction photos.
Me too! One can never get enough photos. 🤓

Final preparations are underway to block views of TSI and RoA demolition. The view from the Tiana’s splashdown area is now blocked.

My gut feeling is that after the new fiscal year begins on October 1, these projects are going to move quickly.
just as well...most wouldn't enjoy seeing how it goes from steer to steak.
