It's time to head East towards the only Single IP land in the park: Bikini Bottom City based on Spongebob Squarepants! A colorful land full of family friendly attractions aimed at guests of all ages.

So, if nautical nonsense be something you wish, then read on!

GJNb83H.png

(The land is called "Bikini Bottom City" instead of simply "Bikini Bottom" for the sake of SEO and Copyright to distinguish the land from the location in the show. It was either this or "Bikini Bottom: Spongebob's World")

LeW52TG.jpeg

While I generally like to avoid hyper immersive single IP lands, some franchises are big enough to justify them and sometimes they are just plain fun. In order to keep the immersive atmosphere, there won't be a ton of natural plant life. Tropical plants here or there to replicate the kelp, seaweed, and corral of Bikini Bottom, but mostly all rockwork and artificial sandy environments.

The lake at the heart of Pi's Universal Studios borders the land on the north side giving it a seaside feel, while the south side is lined with rides/showbuildings. What parts of the showbuildings that aren't hidden by rockwork/rides are painted blue and adorned with the colorful sky flowers the show is known for (The back of the Minions and NBC soundstages from Production Central are painted that way too). Throughout the land there are bubble blowers helping the fun underwater atmosphere! And of course, a healthy dose of surf rock and music from the show!

The Krusty Krab

QVdoMpq.jpeg

The main entrance to the land has guests immediately greeted by the iconic sight of the Krusty Krab and the Chum Bucket right across the street from each other. Guests will finally be able to eat inside the Krusty Krab! This is a simple quick service serving fast food favorites, but the immersive theming helps it feel unique and elevates it. Enjoy Krabby Patties (Burgers), Kursty Krab Pizzas (personal flatbreads), Pearl's Signature Salads, and more! With Pretty Patties as a unique treat (sliders with dyed buns and flavors infused in the bread to correspond to each color).

In the mornings, the quick service location is transformed into a character breakfast where guests can have an early meal while hanging out with Spongebob and the gang!

The Chum Bucket

Mp3ENR5.png

The illustrious infamous Chum Bucket run by Sheldon J Plankton rests right across the street from the infinitely more popular Krusty Krab. In the park, the Chum Bucket won't be another full quick service location. A simple walk up stand that specializes in hot dogs and corn dogs

Jelly Jumpers

sxhymac.jpeg

A simple Paratower style flat ride aimed at kids but accessible to all ages. Guests will get to ride a jellyfish as they bounce up and down! Some might say that this is a bit derivative of Jumpin' Jellyfish at California Adventure, but

Jellyfish Fields Jam - Family Effects Coaster

9rrmT3T.png

Sandy Cheeks has designed an all new rocket powered jellyfishing boatmobile and now its time to test it out! This effects coaster will be a slightly tamer version of Hagrid's Magic Creature Motorbike Adventure taking guests on a trip through and around Jellyfish fields. Not just a thrill ride, there will be multiple simple show scenes of Spongebob and Patrick fishing for jellyfish. All is going well until Sandy's rocket powered jellyfishing boatmobile gets stung by the King Jellyfish! That leads to the backwards drop just like the scene with the pixies in Hagrid's. Sandy is able to regain control leading to a final zip around the fields!

Treedome Trinkets

yLb58tc.png

Guests who ride Jellyfish Fields Jam will exit into Sandy's Treedome where she's selling some of her gadgets! As well as a selection of spongebob merch of course

Boating School Spin - Spinning Dark Ride

twH1kXw.png

Guests can head into Mrs. Puff's Boating School to try and help Spongebob earn his license finally! For safety reasons, Mrs. Puff no longer rides in the boats for the driving tests and instead monitors them remotely (and narrates the ride). This will be a madcap dark ride that starts outdoors in Mrs. Puff's driving course before heading way off course into a showbuilding and out into Downtown Bikini Bottom! Whoever is in the driver's seat for the 4 person ride vehicles will be able to turn the wheel to spin the boats as guests rush past iconic sights from the show. While Spongebob will be featured, the main focus will be on side characters and the show's larger ensemble cast giving the spotlight to the fish who aren't seen anywhere else in the land.

Anchor Mart

The main gift shop for the land found under a giant anchor (a recurring visual for the series), Anchor Mart sells not just Spongebob merch but souvenirs themed to a variety of Nickelodeon IPs.

Bikini Bottom Splashdown

LA5FGSs.jpeg

This River Rapids Raft Ride takes guests around the outskirts of Bikini Bottom for a splashing good time! Utilizing Intamin's more compact design from SeaWorld's Infinity Falls, this ride has more tight turns and takes up less space compared to Universal's Popeyes ride. The plot is simple and more just based around the fun of riding around the rapids and seeing some of the outdoor environments of Bikini Bottom. Eventually guests float through a cave into the Kelp Forest for a very brief tour before a run in with the Flying Dutchman! The ghostly pirate lifts the boats up (a vertical elevator lift like Infinity Falls) leading to the exciting drop right out of the edge of his haunted ship!

Goofy Goober Ice Cream Parlor

HmgO7a6.png

Goofy Goobers everywhere can come in for a sweet treat! Hard scooped ice cream of several flavors, both simple and unique, are available here. Each can be made into a milkshake or a sundae. Adults visiting can even get a spiked milkshake so they can get as drunk as Spongebob clearly was when visiting in the movie.

Goo Lagoon Games / Snacks

HHWn4So.jpeg

Midway games might be the most transparent, money grabbing, sleezy thing a theme park can have. But also... they're undeniably fun and add some light hearted energy to a land. So, right at the edge of the park's lake will be a slice of Bikini Bottom's beach: Goo Lagoon! There will be a couple of different carnival games themed to Spongebob here with prizes from Nicktoons. Plus, a nice snack stand selling funnel cakes and french fries

Bubble Blasters

x1aHLAU.png

Time for some real nautical nonsense! Hop aboard a boat on the splash battle flat ride to shoot water AND bubble at other boats and targets scattered about. Meanwhile, guests on dry land looking out at this ride can shoot water blasters at the guests riding. This is going to be very similar to the splash battle ride coming to Epic Universe, but with the added twist of bubbles everywhere!

Conch Street Character Trails

padMCUJ.png

Right at the edge of the lake (serving as a sort of icon for the land, visible from around the park) sits Spongebob, Squidward, and Patrick's houses. More than just set pieces, these houses serve as a backdrops for meet & greets for the trio!

Just now got around to looking through your mirror Universal, but it's insane that Universal hasn't given a full-on SpongeBob land much thought outside of a failed attempt for Beijing. Your take on one scratches a pretty big itch for sure!
