The attraction is scheduled to close March 1, 2006, with a tentative open date of July 7, 2006, just in time for the opening of the new second film "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" that opens in theatres nationwide.

:sohappy:

Well, looks like we'll have to fit in a trip to MK before then... :lookaroun
but I'm looking forward to the tweaking.

if u rode the PoC in Disneyland and the one in Disney World u will realize they can do so much more to make DW better. And I can not wait to see how George will act to the changes on the ride. I just hope he is cool with the changes.

I just got back from DL and rode PoC for the first time in 14 years (compared to the annual trip I make to DW).... Yeah, Pirates is longer in DL and there are extra scenes and another drop, but for me the DW version is the more "magical version". I guess it just depends on where you had your first Pirates experience!

DL's PotC has:
- the Blue Bayou next to it which sets an awesome atmosphere.
- their talking skull and cross bones looks better than ours.
- their cave is better. (there is a hidden skull and cross bones if you look closely behind the waterfall)
- their actual cave scenes have more props and treasure.
- they have two drops
- in the Pirate ship scene their sky looks a lot more realistic.
- in the same scene there are AAs that pop up behind the cannons being fired and the cannon balls make bigger splashes.
- also in the same scene if you look up top left as you move into the next scene you can see the shadow of a two person battle going on.
- they have the final scene where the pirates are trying to pull the treasure up the hill while others are sitting around and shooting off their guns.
- they have the final lift hill.

Our PotC has:
- a much, much, much, much better queue.
- hmmm... it is newer?

To simply put it ours sucks in comparrison to theirs. They have everything we have plus some. Only thing I like better about ours is the queue line, but the fact that the BB is right next to the beginning of their ride already makes up for that.

On the contrary our Splash and Jungle Cruise blows theirs away. But their HM and SpaM are better.

I think the HM's are about equal at both parks, they both fit into there respective areas very well, but they do have The Nighmare Before Christmas Holiday Overlay which gives them something unique over our HM.

Hopefully our SM once it gets a Rehab will be great again.

Apparently you haven't seen it since they updated Madame Leota at DL. That is such a cool effect. It makes ours look boring in comparision.

In my opinion Disneylands Splash Mountain is better because
A) It has almost the entire cast of Marc Davis's America Sings charecters
B) It has more AA's as a result
C) Floridas version is missing a scene or two (like the mother rabbit and possum who sing "You must beware").
D) There Finale scene is much larger
E) The logs circle next to the Rivers of America

Not to start a huge drift here...but the biggest difference between the 2 mansions is the exterior and Lighting Design. I use it as a great example of how lighting design truely makes or breakes the show. The New Leota effect is a result of the newer Lighting Design in DL.

Dont forget that DL's haunted mansion is currently under refurb to add EVEN more new effects and updates to the attraction.

Which effects might those be? Does anyone know yet?

Theres some news article floating around the internet that says there adding more stuff to seance (sp?) room, redoing the Attic scene, and moving some stuff from the attic into other parts of the attraction to "enhance" the story. Im personally hoping there is more to it then that. I hope Hatbox ghost finally comes back!

I just checked Disney.com and there is still no mention of WDW Pirates closing on March 1. Has the rumored closing date of March 1 been changed? Or would they wait until closer to the date to avoid affecting ticket sales? (Or neither!)

I just thought it was odd they hadn't announced it yet if it's only 3 weeks away.

Anyone have any further information? Thanks!

It is official. Our version will close March 1 and reopen July 7, while Disneyland's attraction will close March 6 and reopen June 24.

RATS!!!! Just read the latest update saying the WDW Pirates won't be open until July.....and I'm planning to go in June! :(

Oh well, at least the changes sound like they're adding to the ride and not completely changing it. I'm anxious to see what the new "special effects" will be.

So - have any of the other attractions under rehab had any "soft openings" 2 or 3 weeks ahead of schedule by any chance? (not including EE, which is a major new addition). Do I have any reason to hope?

I really can't see us going in July. My wife is not a Disney fan (no - I don't understand it either) and she HATES the heat, so I guess if it's not open, well have to go again in a couple of years.

Don't worry im going in June too and will miss pirates opening. however luckily i get to see the last day of star wars weekends.
