Pirates of the Scareibbean

Sounds good, but it seems DL is on the upper hand in terms of getting things first lately. But then again, it is the original...Either way I doubt WDW will get anything like it soon.

The thing is, Disneyland's PotC is already better than ours. Why can't we both get it??? :( They have Haunted Mansion Holiday and IaSW Holiday. Why can't we have Scarribean??? Guess we'll see what happens.

Sounds and looks more like a Halloween makeover, which is fine by me. It figures the shot with the "Coming _____ 2006" on the bottom leaves out the actual month.

I really do hope this is a seasonal thing. Pirates of the Caribbean is supposed to be a boat ride through events of the past. From the looks of some of those promotional/concept artwork, the animatronics or whatever appear to focus on the guests. This would ruin the entire concept of Pirates of the Caribbean in my humble opinion.

Wow... I agree with you totally, RCT2 Imagineer!

I love it.
All of it.

:)

My thoughts exactly. It is updating an attraction without changing the original.

I wish they could have done something like this with Stitch and AE over at the MK, but that's different. This would give fans of the movie something to please them, without ruining the integrity of the classic. If there's enough room to pull this off, then I do not see a downside to this. It would give Disney another chance to show that they can create attractions for teens and adults that aren't exactly thrill rides.

If this happened, along with the special Space Mountain night program, it would really add to the repeat value of these two Disney classic attractions. And it would keep people going back to make sure they ride both versions.

While it sounds interesting, I don't want to see a true classic replaced with a movie overlay. Not fair to the ride or the memory of those that created it.

Actually, it says "Coming to Disneyland 2006", there is no month shown. I think WDI learned their lesson after the TT fiasco. I'm kinda surprised they even put a year on it, if it's real...

But there wouldn't be any replacements going on, would there?

My guess is that the Scaribbean effects will be random and scattered, not a complete overhaul of the classic attraction. I like the idea of this. So long as it isn't overdone, this will make the ride even better than it is already. Yet another reason to visit DL:D

It has no date because it is just a WDI proposal. Not approved. Not greenlit. Nothing near the stage where it would have an opening date.
All that art is just concept stuff.

Lee, can you confirm that it IS indeed official concept art, and not just 'fan art' as screamscape mentions?

Yep...I think so. I know for a fact it is a valid concept, and I have been told about some artwork that sounded just like that stuff being at Glendale.
