I'm more into their Peter Pan's Flight ride than their POTC! Has many projections as well but still looks amazing!

I think it's hard to judge a ride so harshly without even experiencing first hand. IMO, I think the ride looks cool and fresh . It looks like there is a nice balance of video projection and actual props. I think you get to experience a lot more action with the video projection as seen in the fight scene, etc...It is 2016 and cgi and video projections are here to stay and will only continue to be more widespread. I think if they find a balance between the two, projections and non projection and crank out high quality rides and attractions, they may have they ability to appeal to most people.

I think WDW will get a version of this ride, and it will open in a re-themed way over at AK next year with Avatar. While I don't have the proof, the boat ride that's coming with Avatar may very well be the same setup as POTC Shanghai.

The WDW version is more my cup of tea, I find it more immersive and nostalgic, I wouldn't' want them to make it all CGI as I feel it would take away the character of this ride.

I find Mickey's Philharmagic to be quite enjoyable myself.
