Has anyone done this? Is it worth the money? How long are the kids actually having makeup applied to their faces? I would appreciate any and all info. I'm thinking of booking this for my son who will be 3 1/2 when we are in WDW in February.

Thanks! :)

My oldest DD (8) and her cousin (9), participated in this swashbucklin' makeover during our most recent trip (February), and they loved it! For the cost, it was a pretty good deal (we opted for the least expensive packages - about $34 with tax):
-pirate face paint/make-up (each application has a unique story…i.e. my DD's black nail polish was actually "from loading the cannons")
-costume accessories (depending on which pirate they'd like to be)
-a photo session in a secret room (seriously, no cameras of ANY kind may be used in or directly outside the entrance), with a 5x7 picture included in price!

We checked in 20 min. early, and were called close to our reservation time. The kids were escorted by a pirate to an area just inside the lobby to receive their pirate names (DD's was "Nelly Ironeagle")…10 more minutes passed, and then the kids were called in by their given pirate names…the makeover itself took 20 min., because the CM's interact with one another and entertain the kids…then it was more waiting…and finally 'Nelly Ironeagle' and her cousin were called into the secret room…pics were taken, but our pics were not ready due to a printer malfunction (had them synced with our MB's anyways and got the pics printed at our resortI).

Overall, the kids really enjoyed themselves and would like to do it again! The biggest complaint: it's slooooow going. From check-in to leaving after pictures were taken, 1 hr. had passed. Despite that, I would highly recommend this experience!

My daughter did the mermaid package back in September 2012 on a day we were going to MNSSHP ( she was dressed up as Ariel). I think her appt was at 3. I remember having to wait quite awhile before she went in (but I'm sure they were very busy with others going to the party as well). We were prob there 30-40 mins then had her pics taken. They did a beautiful job on her. Back then her package was 35-40 bucks. We got to leave with makeup and nail polish so it was well worth it. Since then I believe the changed the package to include a tshirt and upped the price quite a bit. She had a great experience though and would prob bring my son except this time he is doing BBB (knight package) with my daughter.

My daughter did it last year and loved it so much she wants to do it again this year (even though I say she is too old). I found the price to be pretty reasonable. I also made her reservations early in the day we were one of the first in and we were in and out in less than thirty minutes.

My son did it when they first started it. It was half off to get people to do it. We loved it. He looked so cute. He even got pictures at the end of it.

It was cute - but it took a very long time. We had 2 kids participate and we were there for about an hour and a half. About 5 minutes after we left, my son decided the make-up made his face feel stiff and wanted it off. So I spent another 20 minutes in the Adventureland bathroom trying to wash the stuff off. I'm glad we did it, and the photos are adorable, but it's not something I would ever do again.

My son did this once and by the time we finally got done, he was done. He just wanted to go play and thought this was going to be a quick in-and-out deal. He said he doesn't want to do this again.

Thanks everyone for your responses, and a special thanks to @journ116 for the pictures!

While I do think this is a worthwhile experience I think we will wait a year or two. My son will only be three and I think he may get impatient waiting to have his makeup done. If this was going to be our only opportunity I would do it. I'll still let both kids dress up for a day at MK. Son as a pirate, and twin sister as one of the princesses.

Thanks again all! :)
